Hey guys,

I have been reading alot about how ps3 doesn't support 1680x1050 resolution very well and how your monitor must be HDCP. I just bought a new Samsung 216bw that is pretty nice. It supports HDCP, but will it properly format with the ps3 and hdmi to dvi cables?

Also i was looking for in the new ps3 update if they added new resolution fixes, but i couldn't find any. Does anyone know anything about this subject that would lean me towards buying my ps3 this xmas?

*Interesting fact, my friends xbox 360 doesn't seem to scale to the 1680x1050 resolution.

It is not compatible, however, 720p should display just fine.

ok, i was worried about it stretching out the pixels and making the gameplay unenjoyable

It works fine on mine, its not like PS3's natively support 1366x786 either :P It will also accept 1080p signals if you are willing to cut off some edges to take advantage of the extra pixels. Unfortunately, the 2.0 update changed the way PS2 games scale to get rid of black bars, and it pretty much zooms it off the screen if you use fullscreen upscaling. This pissed me off greatly since PS2 games worked great before. 480p just scales to screen size like normal, but I really liked the way PS2 games looked upscaled.

dude ,go ahead and buy a ps3!!!I`m playing mine on a acer 22'' lcd(withmax a rezolution of 1650x1280)and it looks terrific!!! my ps3 video output is set to 1280p but the monitor will scale it to 1650x1280 .The monitor cost me 270$ and you can find a HDMI to DVI converter for like 5$ from "monoprice.com" otherwise they can be expensive....and yes you`ll have to make sure the monitor hasDVI withHDCP or HDMI input

A, and sony added bluray support for 720p in a previous ps3 firmeware update so you will be able to see BD movies even if your monitor does not support 1280 video input

I hope you fond this info to be helpful,

peace!
