Living near Los Angeles, does anyone know if (and when) the price drop will come into effect? Do most Best Buys and Targets have the 100 dollar price drop already, or not until August? Also, other than 20gb more space and the game, are there any differences between the 80gb and 60gb PS3 models? Lastly, what the hell is SKU, as I keep reading that it isn't worth buying a PS3 yet because the SKU is being changed in the next few months? So if I want a PS3 now, will I be fine going to the store tommorow and buying one as long as it has the price drop, or am I being ripped off on an outdated model? Thank you for your help.

The 60GBs version is flawless, perfect, impeccable AND faultless in 99% of cases.

If you can get it for $500, you should be thankful.

According to the announcement the price drop is effective immediately.

SKU is short for Stock Keeping Unit and signifies each version of a particular product (in this case the 60 GB PS3 and the new 80 GB PS3).

Thank you guys for your quick and insightful response. Much appreciation!nI just sold my Xbox360 today, games, accessories worth over 2k for 600 dollars..So seeing that I waited until it sold that I saved myself 100 dollars is quite a relief!

80 GB comes with motorstorm also, but only for the first 1 million units, so after that, no motorstorm bundled

After that, I'd try Sam's Club or Costco. The selections/stock are exactly always impeccable, but they do run some pretty slick combo deals sometimes. (got my zune there bundled with the car charger and fm transmitter for $10 more than stock price everywhere else!)

edit: by "stock price" i meant the price of just the zune. eg: zune $250 standard price everywhere else (at the time). Bundle at costco (or maybe it was sams club, they're next door to each other where i live so I constantly mix the two up) $260!

Check all the major game console online stores. They have the price drop in effect already.

Gamestop.com has price tag of $499 and 5 free- blue ray DvDs.
