I was wondering if anyone knows if i would sit my ps3 on top of my subwoofer, would it hurt the hard drive at all? Right now its right next to my tv and it makes the picture a little weird being so close. I don't want to ruin the screen permanently, and the only viable place is onl the subwoofer.

vibrations from the subwoofer might make the disc shake and ruin it

No seriously though, i was told to keep subwoofers and speakers away from anything. I don't know if it's vibrations or sound waves or what but it's not the best idea

Subs give off a fair bit of magnetism which is can be very harmful for sensitive electronics.

To do that, you need to be stupid enough to wake the deaths.

Ok thats why i was asking. Because i remember reading that hard drives dont like magnetic waves so i just wanted to make sure before i do it. For temporary purposes would it be ok to sit on the carpeted floor but like a piece of thick plastic underneath so its not creating static from the carpet? I know this sounds awful but just until i can make a little stand for it.

I wouldn't put my PS3 near any non-shielded speakers. Putting it on top on an unshielded subwoofer is just plain stupid.

The sub is both a magnet and a source of vibration. The two worst things you can expose to a hard drive. Do not place you PS3 or anything with a hard drive on a sub.

I think a plastic mat or something on the floor would be fine for your PS3. You might wanna cover it for dust though, it can get really dusty down there.

Sounds like a horrible idea, really.
