Alot of People complain about how the Ps3 has no RPGs. I really do not care because the Ps2, has plenty and some of the best. There is also the Ps1 and the PSP. Currently I have been playing Final Fantasy 6(III Us) for the Ps1 and Dragon Quest 8 for the Ps2. There is plenty I have barely touched to tied me over until FF13 is released.IG_Pug
Definitely agree with you. I just recently got FF Chronicles and Anthology (the re-release of earlier FF games on the PS1) and I think that'll quell my thirst for a good RPG until FFXIII and FFvXIII comes out.

Well, I care, you must know that your opinion doesn't represents the hole ps3 gaming community ... of course that there are a lot of good ps2 and ps1 rpgs out there, but that doesn't mean that some of us don't want to play some good new rpgs on our ps3...
And I know that there are some good rpgs coming out for the near future, like Eternal Sonata, Valkyria Chronicles and White knight Stories.
TC your right. Im gonna throw MGS4 away and just be content with the first 3. While Im at it I think I'll just skip FFXIII.
Of course people care about the lack of RPGs. Great rpgs defined consoles like the SNES and the PS1. Just because there is a major back log of rpgs to be played doesnt mean we shouldnt want new ones. Most people who have been playing rpgs for a long time have already played all the great ones. We want something new.
Edit: Yes I know MGS4 isnt an rpg, just saying we bought this system to experience new titles, not stick with what we had before.

I like your excuse.
I'm gonna go with I care. I love old rpgs as much as the next guy. I still play FF8,9,Tactics. I've replayed KOTOR 1 and 2 a bunch of times. I still love NWN. But there comes a time when I need something new, something fresh. The PS3 NEEDS some exclusive RPGs stat! While I'm sure Eternal Sonata will be good(even though I sucked at the demo), but it came out on the 360 first.
What made the PS2 so great was the sheer amount of Rpgs. You had fantastic ones and you had terrible ones. But best of all you had your pick. What exclusive RPGs do we have now? Folklore(kinda), Disgea 3, and soon Valkryie Chronicles.
I don't think without RPGs the PS3 will fail. But with them, it'll make them contenders to be number 1 again.

if the RPGs are like Mass Effect = shoot shoot shoot, use some special powers, get upgraded equipment ... I don't want it as it's not a RPG for me, it's a shooter with some RPG elements
if the RPGs are like Blue Dragon, kiddy characters, monsters with piss/poo names ... I don't want it
if the RPGs are like Lost Odissey = steal mechanics from Final Fantasy games, repetitive gameplay ... I don't want it
if the RPGs are like Eternal Sonata = X: hit, O: parry, /\: special and square : item, no levelling customisation ... I don't want it
if there's some Suikoden, Breath of fire, Shadow hearts or Final Fantasy (before XI as I'm not interested in a "false" MMORPG)
I think classic turn based JRPG has been dying in the PS2 era already, as there were maybe half JRPG than PS1 and much more real time action games (FPS and racers mostly), maybe players find JRPGs too slow and want things exploding rather than an engaging storyline unfolding little by little.

You forgot one
if the RPGs are like Fable 2 = epic adventure, openworld, get married, have children, online co-op, become a hero, become a villian, buy sell rent property, dynamic world that changes based on your actions, a faithful dog, deep combat and amazing visuals. I don't want it
*sigh* it would be nice if fable were coming to ps3.
o wait u guys r talking bout real rpg's, in that case,
*sigh* it would be nice if sony brought back legend of dragoon. and turned based RPGsare way too slow and way too boring IMO. i still havent beaten sudoken (i think it was) 4. Interesting story but gameplay mechanics were just too repeditive and too small.
Pretty sure a lot of people care. My original thinking was that since playstation 2 had so many good RPGs that the playstation 3 would have some too. Although it seems that there really aren't too many good rpgs for ps3 or for xbox (although the xbox has more but most aren't really all that good).
Would love a few nice RPGs, a JRPG or two just for good balance.
i care, rpgs are my favorite types of games....i even bought enchanted arms because there was nothing else....:|
but it is picking up, eternal sonata and Valkyrie chronicles are coming out this year and there's more next year...
The last remnant are coming to ps3, it seems like it has superb graphics and gameplay. hxcpride
Unfortunately the 360 version is coming out next month the PS3 version has no release date.
i care. you may ask "well z4twenny how MUCH do you care" to which my response would be
"i care so much i haven't bothered shelling out money on a ps3 yet" seriously, its the major reason i haven't bought a ps3 yet, i'd like to but i generally play rpgs, fighting games and action/adventure/third person type games. i cant stand FPS and the ps3 has a ton of those and not many of anything else. if the ps3 can pick up the slack and get some fighting games and rpg's i'll be glad to pick one up.
What do you mean who cares? Plenty of poeple care. Not everyone wants to play the same old ps2 rpgs. Its a new console genereation and gamers expect new games. psyball
Amen, without RPGS, and all the exclusives going to Xbox, why even own the more expensive PS3? Sony defined their brand with JRPGS, and it is outragerous that we are 2 years or more into this generation with practically nothing
PS3 has some RPGs
The Elder Scrolls 4 : Oblivion
Enchanted Arms
Folklore
Disgaea 3 : Absence of Justice
and is also getting :
Eternal Sonata oct 21
Fallout 3 oct 28
Valkyria chronicles nov 4
White Knight Chronicles 2009
Demon's Souls 2009
The Last Remnant 2009
Star Ocean 4 : The Last Hope 2009
Final Fantasy 13 2009
Final Fantasy versus 13 2009
Guys I've never played an RPG game before . Should I start playing them ? I might get start with Fallout 3
PS2 had large number of good RPGs, but almost no great ones.
Still, good enough.
Anyone, here is the problem. I PLAYED and FINISHED, almost all PS1 and ps2 RPGs that I wanted to play. (only few games like Persona 4 is left now)
That's why I CARE if PS3 has RPGs or not. I mean the whole point I bought PS3 was because of RPGs, since PS1 and PS2 were so strong in RPGs, I expected the same.
This is a good example of how it's great to own more than one system. I get to play Fable 2 tomorrow.pyromaniac223
I owned all three systems last gen and I really didn't enjoy it, lots of great games spend a lot of money, this gen I choose the PS3, although you are right Fable 2 makes me want to buy the 360.
