I hope they just add the custom music to games thing. I don't even really care about it but I'm sick to death of the lemmings using it as a reason the 360 is better.gundamfan80indeed, and im a sony fan and i use it as the same reason, but this seems to be a store upgrade/network upgrade, and not a firmware update so custom music isnt somethin thats gonna happen from this, hopefully they add some new demos, ps games, and change the look of the store

Does anyone know how long they will take to upgrade the network???YourDaddy88
i can't find the article, but i believe it will be down for about 3 hours
i wish they'd make the store layout resemble the XMB, the media bar really is perfect for a controller. The web page setup just isn't as good.

they said they were hopeful to have it done within 3 hours, so if its a little longer don't get worried.
Quoted from Euro Playstation Community:
[Over the next few weeks, some new and exciting changes will take place in the PLAYSTATION®Store. In preparation for this, both PLAYSTATION®Network and PLAYSTATION®Store need to be taken offline for a short while to allow us to carry out the upgrade and maintenance work.
This is scheduled to take place between 16:00 and 19:00 BST (17:00-20:00 CEST) on Tuesday 8th May 2007.
If you are already logged into an online game during this time, you will most likely find that you can continue playing as normal, but you will not be able to log in or start a new game until full service has been restored. You will also not be able to access the Store during this maintenance window.
We are hoping to complete this work in as short a time as possible and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. But remember that these enhancements are paving the way for new and exciting content that we have planned for the Store]

Hell, the PS2 didn't have that, but still out-sold the Xbox and is still out-selling the 360. It can't be too important.

All I need is faster download speeds. :D Then I'll be content.
Let's hope Sony gives us some good new content then!meteorgun7
Sony is learning and still growing stronger all the time.
That's great that they're upgrading the PS store because it's kinda of boring after going there a few times. they need to redesign the entire interface for the storeTheJoker003
I Agree 100% there.
While in game, with the press of the PS button, u can access your buddy list(Like on XBL), send messages and such.
it would make things alot easier.
yeah i think they need to redo the look of the store and the way you navigate , im just glad that they are conctantly working and updating the system and the network stuff, at least they are on the ball, and solving issues,
would like to see backgroud wallpapers, ingame music , maybe some cool way to really customize your xmb besides wallpapers , something cool and unique.
but hopefully they tweak and change the look about the ps store , make it more fun, feels a bit bland.

Sony just announced that the PLAYSTATION Network and Store will be coming down this Tuesday for maintenance and upgrades.

ALL IVE EVER WANTED IS MY CHOICE OF MUSIC IN GAMES
i emailed sony about this and they said its up to the game manufacturer to let you listen to the music you have on your ps3 so i replied, which games do allow it, they never replied haha

congratulations for asking a question you already know the answer to. It is up to the devs to include custom soundtracks, but since most of them are still figuring out the cell, custom soundtracks isn't exactly on the agenda at the moment. Games will come with this feature though...eventually.
If that's all you ever wanted, get a 360 for now.

XD sooo true
Change the store so you can buy ps3 accessories off it, a lá amazon/play.com ....
AND GET SOME STUFF ON THE EU STORE!!liamabob
That's actually a really good and original idea. Although I reckon amazon and play would still be cheaper. Sony would cut out the middle man for selling accessories and make more dollar from it.

Cool, I saw the article and they say the exciting changes are coming within the next few weeks, so let's not get too hyped and expect all new look and content tomorrow. Seems Sony will add content over the next month or two, probably on Thursdays like they do now, and tomorrow is just necessary work to support what's coming.
I hope they just add the custom music to games thing. I don't even really care about it but I'm sick to death of the lemmings using it as a reason the 360 is better.gundamfan80It's more important to people who are really into their music collection I suppose. I love custom soundtracks.

So if you have a custom soundtrack playing from the 360's OS, then you won't be hearing the game's sounds.

Agreed. I don't really like custom soundtracks playing during a game. I want to hear the game's sounds. That's the reason I have a surround sound system. I didn't buy a surround sound system to listen to my own music. I bought it to listen to the game's sounds.
