So i ordered an Asus 23 inch 1080p monitor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236059

Its really good with my gaming computer. Graphics look crisp and wut not. So i decided hey, i should totally hook up my ps3 to this. So i decided to go out and buy an HDMI cord. Well first thing i noticed was that the text and stuff looked pretty bad for hd. Then i decided to pop in one of the best graphical games (KZ2) and same thing. The lettering in game looked pretty bad (non HD) and nothing looked spectacular. I actually think that things looked way better with component cables on my samsung 720p and an lg 1080p i use sometimes (both of those on component cables). Whats the deal.. Thought HDMI was full HD along with 1080p..

idk if thats sarcasm or not. But i messed with the settings on the monitor alot and nothing really help. Textures looked kinda bad. I tried the MGS4 demo. Ik it was very crisp and full of light on this 1080p 40" LG tv using component . On my monitor with hdmi it was all blurry. Looked like it was slightly better than 480p and worse than 720p.

You talking about text or textures? Make sure to enable 720p and 1080p in your display options of the PS3.

BTW, I actually have the exact same monitor. Does the XMB display in 1080p? If not, your PS3 display settings must be terribly off.

I think pressing the menu button on your monitor brings up the resolution.

Sounds to me like you may have your PS3's display settings slightly off. Go into those settings via the XMB and make sure they are how they should be for a 1080p output.

If you do already have them correct then I'm not entirely sure.

[QUOTE="Papadrach"]

I use and extreme HD monitor at work and check the ps3 on it, and games on ps3 look worse for sure, but on my 1080p samsung lcd they looks awesome, sometimes comptuer monitors just do make console games look the best for watever reason

I dont think that made sense, the last part. But ya i think i get it. Monitors arent the best thing for console gaming. Well shoot this sucks i wanted 1080p
