I'm not sure if the 60gb is still good for me because I bought it around the day the ps3 got released. Now sony released both the 40gb and 80gb versions of it. Correct me if I'm wrong but is it true that the 40gb can only play ps3 games but not backwards compatible like the 20gb model? And the 80gb is pretty much the same as the 60gb cuz it has wi-fi and bakcwards compatibility right?

Also, is there a way for me to get any blue-ray movies whatsoever? Because it's not fair for me and those people who bought their ps3 when it wuz released and they didn't get this offer.

60GB PS3 is the best SKU.

The 80GB PS3 uses software emulation for its backwards compatibility with PS2/PS1 games. The 40GB does not play PS2 games at all. As for the Blu-ray movie offer, you can still try to take advantage of it. I've heard of people getting the movies even though they didn't necessarily qualify for them. It doesn't hurt to try. Rest assured, though... the 60GB PS3 is the best.

The 60 gig was the very best PS3 that was released (I heard that a used 60 gig is selling for more or about the same as they did at release). I have never looked back after getting the 60 gig PS3.

Jared2720 said all the right things. No need to change the system because the 60GB is clearly the best. If you wanted the 80 because of its larger HDD do what INSOMNIAC did and upgrade. It's that simple!

the 60 GB Sku the best? uhm perhaps, I think it's more a personal preferences, look at my collection, all my Ps2 games play on the 80 GB sku and I have all the same options. I'm quite fine with it.

From what I understand, Ps3 has a slot for a second HDD to transfer files to. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah I'd go along with that. I got an 80GB and I have over 30 PS2 games in my collection ranging from Marvel vs. Capcom 2 all the way to MGS3 and my PS3 can play them all. The only thing I have heard is the difference in the two models is bc, which hasn't seemed to be a concern with my games anyway, plus I got 20 more GB and a free game. The 60GB is great but I think the 80GB is every bit as good.

Perhaps the reason behind people, (like me) saying that the 60 gig is "the best" is for the simple fact that it is the only SKU versio of the PS3 that contains not only the PS3 hardware. But, also PS2's hardware (namely the Emotion Engine.) Thus making ALL of the PS2 games immediately compatible with that SKU version. Whereas the 80 gig uses emulation software to run a (though rather large) percentage of PS2 games.

My take is this... Why risk it? You have a system that'll undenyably play every single one of the PS2 games out there. And, even with the 80 gig's (high) percentage, there may be one, or two games out there that may not run on it. Yes the percentage of failure is rather small. But, I "personally" would not risk it. With many PS2 games still coming out, it isn't really worth the risk. But, again... My take on it.

The 60gb SKU is the best version of the PS3 released. I bought the 20gb and i'm happy with it but the 60gb is much better.

Ive had the 60 gig since january 07 and i wouldnt trade it for none of the new sku's. Plus the 20 is BC, the 40 gig is the only one that isnt.

You can backup to an external USB drive formated FAT32 using the PS3s backup tool. Once you install the new drive you use the PS3s recovery tool to grab your backup data off the external drive and you're good to go.
