i am considering getting one but i dont know if its worth it

No not at the moment, i havent even bought a game for it yet as there is nothing at all worth getting. If your desperate for blu ray tho you cant go wrong and the browser is handy too but from a gaming perspective stick to the 360 for now untill maybe xmas the price would have dropped to by then.and then we have oblivion, fight night round 3, armored core that are better on the ps3. To the TC just check the games coming out and that are out and decide by yourself, dont let fanboys decide for you.
What is annoying me the most at the moment is the multi platform games like call of duty 3 and fear they seem to be giving the ps3 the worst versions with frame rate issues i hope its not a sign of things to come for multi platform games i would be most annoyedColonel_basic

just sell your x360 and get the ps3.
or you could trade in x360 Â for the ps3 as well.
it is worth every penny with games like VF5, RESISTANCE ,F1, MOTORSTORM and ridge racer 7.
plus you could enjoy tons of blue-ray movies too.
in AUSTRALIA around 30% of ps3 owners traded in their x360.Â
[QUOTE="Slingbladexx11"]dude you have a 360 just keep that dont get a ps3
DO NOT GET A PS3!!!

sell your x360!!!
get the ps3.
why have you paid 400$ for a dvd drive + watered down xenon + overheated console.
get the ps3
Â
I knew this would start a stupid console war which based on out of dated facts and pointless opionions. Â

x360 has a dvd drive which is outdated and a FACT
XENON is a massively watered down version of PP5.......a FACT and is roughly 1/10 as powerful as the CELL.
59% of x360s in England suffer from overheating....a FACT
x360 has no HDMI/WIFI/a NEXT GEN DRIVE....a FACT
all those are FACTS based on an outdated console.
over 75% of ps2 titles are backward compatible with ps3..........compared to just 257 titles for x360.....a FACT
There is no internal scaler in the ps3. Most games you wont even be able to play in high definition with the ps3; it will be down scaled to 480p. You will be able to play blu ray movies in 1080i. I would say stay clear if you were looking forward to HD gaming.Videodogg
ps3 can upscale with sofware rendering.....SONY would release firmwire updates that would enhance the quality at 720p/1080i when upscaled.
you can play BD at 1080p if you have a TV that supports 1080p.....i have 1080p 61" HD-ILA.
i ran all BD movies..casino royale /the departed at 1080p
I have a 1080i tv and a 360 as well, but you can bet that I will be getting the PS3 here this summer. I've already dropped the xbox live account because I just don't use it like I do my ps2, and I know that I'll be using my PS3 alot once I get it.i am considering getting one but i dont know if its worth it

you have to pay 50$ yearly for xbox live with text achievements.
on the other hand 3d interactive HOME on ps3 comes to you free of charge.
50*5 = 250$ for text achievement on LIVE.
HOME with 3d interactive world =FREE and priceless

The topic creator has a 1080i tv. the ps3 will not upscale 720p games to 1080i, it will instead downscale to 480p. this is a fact. Most ps3 games are 720p only. Game like Resistance and VF5 and Motorstorm will only play at 480p on his 1080i tv. He does not care about 1080p because his tv wont support that resolution, so that feature is no good to him. He will be able to play blu ray movies at 1080i, which is great, for movies...but he WILL NOT get HD from games..plain and simple.[QUOTE="jjseth"][QUOTE="skatr0830"]I have a 1080i tv and a 360 as well, but you can bet that I will be getting the PS3 here this summer. Trust me, i know the costs. I'm not getting rid of my 360, but I will be adding a PS3 to my collection this summer. ;) I'm not some uninformed person here and I love my sony products and will be jumping into the ps3 soon. You don't have to sell me on getting a ps3, I was sold on it before it even released. Only reason I haven't got one is because I got laid off right before the launch and money has been tight, but that will change soon.[QUOTE="washimul"][QUOTE="Videodogg"]There is no internal scaler in the ps3. And just because my TV has the option of converting it to 1080i doesn't mean that it will go and say "Heck with you trying to upconvert me, take this in 480p instead of 720p".59% of x360s in England suffer from overheating....a FACTwashimulYeah that was based off of a survey that didn't use random sampling, and is therefore scientifically invalid. You might as well quote data from the polls created on this site, but see how much credability that gets you. So all that lovely survey statatistic shows is that 59% of the people that wanted to take their survey had broken 360s, which means that of 360 owners, more people with broken units like to take polls than people with perfectly functional 360s. This is experimental design 101. But whatever. Newsflash: People like to complain a lot! What a shocking revelation!!!

SONY has fixed the 720p issue already for PS3 games.
the user has a 720p/1080i tv....so games would run at both 1080i and 720p......initially games were downgraded to 480p rather than 720p.
for ps2 games the upscaling is done through software but the pics look jaggy at higher resolutions.
in future though SONY would also fix this issue.
but ps3 is a super bargain no doubt....!!! 600$ is a cheap price for what you get
GTHD runs very smooth even on a SD tv.
As mentioned above, wait. Unless you're a High Def Video nut like my self. Even then only invest if you have a TV worth of throwing hundreds of pounds at. The games out on the PS3 are lackluster at best with only three titles worth buying. Raid the 360 launch title libary if you need something to play.Spookie
360 has no game except GEARS which is nothing compared to RESISTANCE.
VF5,F1, MOTORSTORM beat anything on x360

Stop being such a big fanboy.wht is fanboyish about that???
xbox live subscription costs 50 per annum.
if you are playing x360 for 5 years you end up paying 250$.
On the other hand HOME and ps3 online comes to you free of charge.
plus the experience of HOME is unmatchable.
why would i pay 250$ for inferior service when i could get HOME for free where i wd be able to see my TROPHIES in an interactive world. People around would be clamouring and praising my accomplishments.
Ok, i'm going to put aside all this system war stuff. I own one, i believe its a great console and i personally am very happy with my purchase. 1080i does not matter because it still looks amazing and really any games, blu ray discs or dvds will go up to the highest resolution supported by the disc itself. I know that resistence only goes up to 720p and it still looks great. In terms of whether it is justified right now, I believe there are a lot of good games out there currently ( Resistence, Motorstorm, VF 5 to name a few) and a ton of good games coming out in the future which you can check out this very comprehensive list
http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=25336507
and Ninja Gaiden Sigma is expected in June for example. Finally, in terms of price cuts, I dont think there will be one in the next few months. i predict a year or so from now for the simple reason that sony believes and i believe that they are giving consumers a good deals for $600 because of the blu ray (players run in the $1000 range) and because of the pure power of the processers and hardware though i could be wrong. Ultimately, its up to you if you want to get one now or wait. All i can tell you is that i have found it to be a great system and it does have some good games now and coming soon.
