hey guys, wondering if any of you know how long approx it would take to run through the single player (just the story mission) of Batman: Arkham Asylum. I really wouldn't bother going all over the place looking for every single riddle, and prob just solve the ones that cross my path, but do any of you know about how long the game is supposed to be?

its up to you how long it is. Since the game isnt linear and your able to free roam any where you please....you can easily get around 20-40 hours first play through. Its more of a zelda / metriod / bioshock type of game.

If you play it on hard it will take a lot longer! I'm about 8 hours into it and it only says 20% I've been dying A LOT though. You don't get the counter attack alert in hard mode... I would suggest playing it on hard the first time through to get the most out of the game ;)

guys you can't really measure the length of the game based on completion rating because as they say in the vid review (I think on THIS website, maybe its on IGN, I don't remember) your completion rating is based on how many riddler puzzles you solved (at least its mostly based on that), and since I don't intend to go looking for every single one (I don't find hunting like that any fun) I am just going for the story. I figure that, based on what people have told me, it will last anywhere from 10-20 hours, but since I will replay it at least once for fun and then probably make a video walkthrough, I will definitely get my money's worth.

People say that but the reality is that people want to relax and play a video game. Not die every 5 minutes and want to kill somebody in a fit of rage. I am going through easy, then normal and finally hard. Now that should give me hours of playtime :D

it seems like more of a inFAMOUS type game to me... its open world, you free roam... seems a lot like infamous(with the open world gameplay part)

Question about that. After you beat it, can you go back into the game and just free roam? Or do you have to start new game and it will keep the Riddler challenges?

There is no aftermath. What happens is after you return to the menu screen after the credits, select Continue Story, it'll bring you right outside the building before the last boss fight. From there you can go anywhere on the island. There are no more enemies, mostly empty buildings besides the people you rescued.

Wait so it just puts you back right before the last boss battle? Or does it just put you in front of the building where the boss battle was?

It's as long as you want it to be. If you just don't give a damn about the Riddler's challenges or don't do much exploring your first play through, it shouldn't take to long for you to beat.

I, on the other hand, am trying to complete allof Mr. Riddler's challenges and do a bit of exploring around Arkham. . . and I don't think I am half way done yet. (With the main storyline.)
