I have a 39 inch Sony Bravia that has a max res of 1080i. My PS3 always displays in 1080i but when I play Assassins Creed, the TV switches down to 720p. How and where do I modify this? I looked in the game options and couldn't find anything.

If you can help me, please be specific (if possible).

Assassin's Creed has a resolution of 720p. Thus, your TV switches down to it. It can't play 1080p because the game doesn't support it. Check the specifications on the back side of the box and you will see. They always specify this value for each game! There are some games, which support 1080p. As far as I remember, for example, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.

If you want to play Assassins Creed in 1080i, go to display settings-custom-check only the 480 box and the 1080i box. Do not check the 720p box. I think the native resolution of Assassins Creed is 720p, so by going to 1080i it might upscale it and make it look worse. Some games on the back of their boxes say 1080i, but usually it is just an upscale and it makes it look worse. Warhawk is a great example of this. If you play it in 1080i, and its blurry, and if it looks worse than before, check the all of the boxes and Assassins will automaticaly switch to 720p.
