How many million threads have there been about this over the years?

It would be a disaster for SE to remake FF7 because it would have SO MUCH hype around it that it would not be possible, no matter how good it was, for the game to live up to its hype.

Peoples' memory of FF7 has been sweetened over time of not playing it to the point that it is on an unmoveable pedestal that would be impossible to dethrone, no matter how amazing a remake is.

bah, how many times do I have to repeat myself, they ARE making the remake; sorry, I do not have internet proof, but be assured that they are making it for a 2010/2011 release after completion of ff13's and kh3PureDante

There is no remake, and there won't be a remake.

The fans screaming for it seem to forget one key element. Most of the members who worked on the original work for different companies currently (Mystwalker mostly). Considering the game's mastermind no long is part of SquareEnix, it would be impossible to do a direct remake as its his. The name isn't, the story is.

Why do you think they've done sequels and prequels? Because they can't touch the original material.

Besides, why do you want a 7 remake? So they can flash it up and remove any of the stuff that made it fun? So they can continue to remove the character qualities for fan service? (I'm looking at you Advent Children)

If they do remakes, remake some of the older games. V and VI come to mind, as well as Chrono Trigger. However, I'm not sure if I want them remade. I keep seeing what Nomura did to KHII and I'm not sure if I can handle another flashy "press triangle to win" game.

actually I was told by a pretty good source a year ago that they do very much want to make a Final Fantasy VII remake but only when the company is in trouble, using the 1 game (FFVII) to save there asses, which makes prefect sense. The game that will get a remake (probably before FFVII) is Final Fantasy VIII. Which I think is pretty cool, FFVIII i say is as awesome as FFVII in everything except one thing. Sephiroth will ALWAYS BE the most bad ass villian ever. It would take A LOT for SE to make a guy more bad ass then him.cvbz

FF8 was just as good as FF7, the story was better to, but nobody touches Sephiroth or Cloud

Even if there is, they are working on FFXIII and Versus so don't expect it anytime soon.

A FF7 remake wil lhappen eventually I'm sure. Probably not soon, but eventually. We know and they know their sitting on a billion dollar game, and like someone said previously, it's their trump card, they'll pull out ina desperate or dry time.

I believe that right now it is in the works of being rescriptedand put into theory, and waitin to see how much sony and/or microsoft will shell out or do to have this game. Sad to say but this game could tilt the console wars to one system if they can grab this potential remake as an exclusive...

Anyways, back to reality... I would just be happy to have a re-release of the game or maybe the game thrown on a single DVD disc and maybe add a directors cut version to it, to fill some of the plot holes. :D

FFVII will eventually see a remake, you don't need a original cast to do it. There are many talented people at Square who can pull it of without any problem.

You have to be very single minded if you don't believe that such a hit game will not see a remake or updated version of it.

Here is a interesting question: Why would you make a FFVII "video demo" and not any other bloody game on the market when it was shown? Out of all the games on the market, they chose to show "This is how FFVII would look like if we remade it on PS3" video. Why is that? Because everyone knows (Square) how much people love FFVII.

It only proves that the company cares for "THE" JRPG that had started the evolution of jrpg gaming. How about another sequel in form of Crisis Core. It was FFVII world but it wasn't even based on Cloud or phenomenal story that FFVII had. Do you know that FFVII: Crisis Core is still on top JRPG list in Japan? That 32% of PSP share had climb up like a rocket and the game was and is the top selling Jrpg on the market.

This is only a side story of Zack.. the guy we didn't even care for in FFVII. There is no proof from Square that they will definitely remake FFVII, then why are they still releasing games based on it's universe that sells like hot-cakes. Sure, they are milking it, but it sells because people love FFVII, nothing wrong with that.

Even from a pure business standpoint, it would make a remarkable profit to remake FFVII, not to even remotely consider that almost everyone in Japan alone will be camping a week ahead to get their copy. Not to mention the rest of the folks like myself who grew up on this great game who will be there to purchase it.

It's a speculation on my side, but I'm sure Square and Sony do strategics and will eventually give fans (millions of fans) a chance to re-live the game once again, it's only a matter of time.

We won't hear anything until FFXIII and VS XIII are released. After that, sky is the limit.

That's my point of view anyway.

Well said. If there is going to be any news or FFVII it would be after FFXIII, VS XIII amongst other projects they are working on different systems.

Nothing would make me more happy then remake, but it will probably be a long time before/if we hear any news. I just don't believe FFVII will be forgotten, there are probably going to be more games based on it.

rumor has it that its already been done and somehow implemented in MGS4. I'll have my friend come in here and verify it.
