Hello guys,

My friend has an SDTV and he noticed during FMV's some screen tearing. When I played mine on an LCD I didn't see this problem. Just wanted to ask if this problem is related to the kind of TV you have?

Thanks for answering.

make sure it features 120hz fresh rate at least, cuz 60 hz is horrible for gaming. 60hz = poor motion blur

It's kinda funny. I ordered an LCD monitor (24inch) to use for gaming (and FFXIII in particular) just this past weekend before all this info about screen tearing came up. Glad I ordered it when I did; it's supposed to arrive today. That sucks about SDTVs having that issue though. I've been using my old 27 inch SDTV for PS3 since I've had it ;/. Finally broke down and just bought the monitor (cheaper than an HDTV). I bet I will want to play through all my games again to see how they look :O

Yah, I will be using my own speakers, not the crappy ones that are built into the monitor.

Screen tearing has nothing to do with SD or HD. It is a problem with the coding of the game, and/or the game hardware not being able to achieve a smooth framerate with the way the code was written. I'm pretty sure if there is screen tearing in a game, it would appear regardless of the display technology used.. It's really a sign of laziness on the developer to release a game that has rampant screen tearing.

That's what I thought as well, but people don't seem to be reporting problems with anything but SDTVs, I dunno. No review has mentioned any screen tearing either (but I assume most reviewers don't review games on SDTV).

A lot of games suffer from screen tearing, even on HD TVs
