I have noticed a few PSP games are available to download via the Playstation Store; with the exception of the PS one classics do you prefer to own a game on UMD or as a download purchased via the Playstation Store?

I don't like digital distribution. I want to have a real item when i spend my money, and i like my games to come with their real boxes and manuals, something DD doesn't provide.

Actually, manuals are included with all games available on the PSN. Press the Home button and select Software Manual. To me, all I care about is the game and could give a crap about what form I get it in.

DD is convenient and all, but I like to have the disc in my hands. I like opening my UMD case and looking at all the discs, seeing my collection in physical form. I tend to forget what I've downloaded on my PS3...I've got demos I haven't touched even though I dl'ed them weeks ago.

Plus, you can't sell a downloaded game to someone else (eBay, Gamestop, etc.) once you're tired of playing it.

Wow, I'm really surprised that I seem to be the only one who doesn't care about UMDs; maybe having a 16 GB memory stick makes it easier for me :)

Given that they can be redownloaded at any time, no not really.

to me, it's not hte same as having the real paper manual. I prefer reading off paper.

If you're travelling, would you rather have 3 UMDs or three games on your memory stick? I prefer the latter. But generally I prefer UMDs. There are advantages and disadvantages for both.

While I agree with most people that I would rather have the physical CD/UMD/whatever.. DD seems to be the future of gaming. Can't say I like it too much, but DD does save developers the $$ of physically making the game. Now if only they would pass on that discount in terms of game prices.

... because, you know, we all like waiting 8 hours to download half a video game, only to find out you don't have enough memory.

UMD all the way!

Memories are cheap these days. 4GB memory stick is only $40. 8GB is going to be $50 to $60 soon. Sony shouldn't invest $$ on UMD, instead just do what Apple do, put an internal Flash Drive or Upgradable flash or HDD.

I personally hate UMD, because it wastes more battery for the laser and motor and loads longer than reading games directly on Memory Stick.

Also, in case if you lost your or damaged your UMD, you can't get it unless you go pay for it. However, for DLC, you can download anytime after you delete it as long as you login to your account anywhere in the world that is connected to the Internet.

Digital Distribution is Extremely convenient.

But the downside is, you can't sell the game nor buy it at a bargain price because the distributors control all.

I prefer UMD. I like to see all my games neatly arranged in place so that i can see the all that i bought and finished playing. Sometimes i just want to look at all my collection of beautiful games. My games shelf is my library.

I've seen people that only cares to play the game at all and doesn't give a sh*t about anything else. I know a guy who bought a PSP just to play God of War then he sold his new PSP for half the price after he finished the game, but when Crisis Core came out he bought another PSP and sold it again after playing. I even know i guy who threw his Warcraft 3 Battlechest game in the trash after finishing the game.

I mostly game on PC, so DD isn't all that new/scary to me. I haven't bought a physical copy of a PC game in a long time already, getting everything from Steam or the equivalent.

Considering it's a portable device, I would much prefer DD for my PSP. As people have said, I'd like having all my games on a single memory card then have to carry around UMDs. I rarely look at manuals anymore, and usually just jump to the controls page.

I think Sony announced that they would increase their DD at whatever conference it is in England. You download games/movies to your PC where they can all be stored, and then simply transfer them to your PSP's memory card when you want. All they need to do now is build a larger library of games available for download...

DD games use less battery, are transported easier, and can be replaced by merely re-downloading the game. don't get me wrong, UMD's make it easier to fit large media files into games and play from the disc, but ultimately i prefer DD.

as memory prices go down and available storage space goes up, i think the move to DD will become more prevalent.

People call me picky because I feel the same exact way. Personally, I'd prefer it if some of these downloadable games were available on UMD. I really want Echochrome, but I have no access to the PSN.

No PC, or you don't live in one of the supported countries?
