I'll be buying a PS3 with an 80GB HD, but was thinking that once I get it, can I switch the 80 GB for something bigger like...let's say...a 250GB HD?

I think I remember reading somewhere here that the original PS3 HD's have a chip that will allow the system to play games. Would this cause problems?

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Sony made the PS3 so that you'd be able to upgrade the hard drive. Sony wants you to upgrade.

www.newegg.com is where most of the PS3 users buy their hard drives.

Yes, you can upgrade your hard drive and it can be any SATA 2.5-inch HDD (basically a laptop HDD)
