Anticipated games that let you down!

There are some games that I really like the look of. I see gameplay movies, read previews and they sound great. But some just really let you down by turning out complete CRAP. One game that was a let down was Far Cry 2 for me. I thought it was a great game and agreed withn gamespot's 8.5 score, But before hand I really thought that this was going to be the best game of 2008 and could even get a 10 for me. But it wasn't.

Anyone else have a problem with an anticipated game? Thanks :)

Resistance 2. In fact, Resistance 2 was the biggest disappointment of 2008 for me.

I was really looking forward to: Rise of the Argonauts, LotR Conquest, and Golden Axe: Beast Rider for some fantasy adventure gaming and all 3 were abysmally terrible. thankfully I rented but returned them before the week even expired.

Haze, Assassin's Creed

I guess the only thing which was a bit of a dispointment (but in a good way) was Metal Gear Solid 4, I think it may have done with a couple of more acts.

The worse game which let me down in general game play and being flat out bad was Haze, Kane and Lynch, Spiderman Web of Shadows, Midnight Club and COD: WAW

Farcry 2

Resistance 2.

farcry 2,fallout 3 and metal gear solid 4 where big dissapointments to me.

Assassin's Creed

Assassins Creed though I still loved it and the Force Unleashed.

Far cry 2, boring singleplayer, uninteresting characters,multiplayer is undeveloped and not worth the load times.

(Off of PS3) Gears of war 2, it was Gear of war 1 on a slightly bigger scale, with cheap shots at adding some emotional interest into the characters, and not lagged, but broken competitive multiplayer; Horde mode and coop were it's only redeeming factors.

Assassin's Creed, and to a lesser degree, GTAIV.lusitanogamer

I don't think they're terrible games, just really disappointing.

assassin's creed for me too, seems like there are way too many people saying that one... hopefully they have taken note of that and made the sequel better!!! im really hesitant to purchase this one, in fact i probably wont...

Haze and Socom....

At the cost of being called an idiot, Killzone2 let me down :(

see my hopes wernt really too high with killzone 2 i knew it would be good, but not crazy good... not like MGS4 which is a masterpiece! but killzone 2 is awesome too, online is alright, but the campaign is very very entertaining

SOCOM: Confrontation. I'll just have to wait for SOCOM IV. The last 3 SOCOMs were a blast though. So much intense action in those games. majadamus

I agree, I think Socom 2 was the best IMO.

The Godfather II was a huge disappointment to me. I was planing to buy on release day, but changed my mind when it got 4.5 rating.mithrixx

killzone 2 was the biggest letdown in my opinion

MGS4 for me. And it would've been Warhawk until I got over the steep learning curve - it's now got to be one of my favourites! Is Far Cry 2 really that much of a let down? I was considering buying it as I'm a big sandbox style fan, but a lot of peeps have it down on this thread...hy6e

It is certainly worth buying. Just not a top game.

Yes, you are right. Great graphics and I did have a lot of fun with it.

Dead Space. I enjoyed the first hour and then it just got so repetetive. Wasn't scary either.

mirror's edge. it was ok but I beat it in less than a day and I had no reason to do the time trials.

Nothing this gen i have learned from my mistakes and only buy games based on what i know i like. I can not remember the last game that actually disappointed me because i never get really hyped over games.

Oblivion, it's greatly overrated

Assassin's Creed. I thought it was going to be epic and blow me away, but it was just merely a fun game that became repetitive after a short while.

How can you say the game was disappointment to you if you're basing you're judgment on somebody else's opinion? That makes no sense! At least try the game and make your own idea about it.

Besides, The Godfather 2 received a bunch of 7.0+ ratings accross the net.

thats why you reserch abit more before you buy it, i've never been let down(alittle bit on killzone 2 but i got better and got over it and loved it, but my favorite game is still resistance 2).

I haven't been let down by any games yet this gen. . . Well actually I bought into the hype for COD4 and didn't really like it. never bothered finishing the campaign and online didn't hold my interest. other than that nothing else. LBP, Valkyria Chronicles, Killzone 2, Uncharted, and MGS4 all delivered (these were the main games I was really hyped for). I don't know if Folklore will let me down yet (haven't played it yet). I was really excited about its release but it's been put on my backburner for now.
