Hey guys, I´m thinking of buying a ps3 but I don´t have an HDTV yet. I´m going to buy one soon, but in the meantime I was wondering if ALL ps3 games could run on my SDTV.

Thanks in advance.

dont buy those 480p cables, there not worth it. Just stick with 480i until you get an HDTV, atleast thats what i did.

It comes with standard. You'll need an HDMI cable when you get your new TV.

480p cables? You mean component cables? They will work with HDTV's as well, so the investment won't be lost.

What kind of tv you looking at? What size? Best Buy has a 32" 720p Dynex for $329.99. If you are looking for a 1080p, they have an LG and a Sony 32" for $599.99.

@envybianchi

Thanks for the heads up, I´ll check it out

Also, I still don´t know but I think I´ll be moving to a place where the voltage is 220V. Can the ps3 work with that voltage or will I need a converter?

I think NA has a switch on the back of the PS3 to change voltages, not to sure though, as I dont live in NA.

Yes, they can. I'm using SDTV 28" with 4:3 aspect ratio right now. I want to say that u should ignore platformer games if u have SDTV because it sucks. U can just use those 3 cables which comes with PS3 to play on your SDTV, so no worry.

@Amith12

Thanks for the info, I really needed to know that.

BTW, it seems that now it would be easier for me to buy a new computer monitor(with DVI input) than a HDTV. Would it be the same thing if I used the ps3 hooked up to the monitor with a HDMI to DVI cable?

ehh...and why are the reasons why your TV wouldn't "run" your ps3 games on SD? if its on SD, then its on SD and any SD tv can take it, it can be the first TV to have AV input and it will still support it

Thanks for the info guys, I really apreciate it.

I asked this question because one of my friends couldn´t play newer ps3 games on his SDTV and since he was playing PAL games on a NTSC ps3 I couldn´t be sure.

HDMI is the same as DVI, except that HDMI carries sound, and it doesn't have those pins, which are flimsy and can be broken easily.

So does that mean that I can use the HDMI to DVI cable for video and the AV cable for sound (the audio one)?
