dude! when they started selling ps2 i was waitting for a price drop, but i could't hold no longer when metal gear 2 was out then i had to just buy me a set, well it was 6 years ago and its still working fine so it was metal gear that made me give up the price drop wait, well thats what im doing for ps3 now, maybe this time i cant wait longer
I got mine when the system launched, because it's leaps and bounds better than the PS1. Back then I thought the Xbox would be a miserable failure, like everyone else did, and after Nintendo royally screwed up with the N64, I wasn't going back to them until they proved themselves worthy of going back to.
There wasn't any game that made me get a PS2. I got it during the Xbox/Gamecube launch during Christmas and I got the system I could find, which was PS2.
I was a big Dragon Ball(still am...) and I wanted Dragon BAll Z Budokai real bad. You have to understand, that was the very first big Dragon BAll Z game that had officially come to America. Before that, all there was, was The Legacy of Goku which sucked hard. And GT Final Bout which at the time was super rare and it sucked.
I didn't get it with my PS2 though, I got Kingdom Hearts first since me and my sister both wanted it. And it ended up being my favorite game of all time until KH2 over threw it.
When I saw this game in 2001 I couldn't believe that the game can looks like this ... that was incredible ... I had grade-drop :) and I couldn't wait much longer and I bought PS2 4 this game !!!!
before i got my ps2, i always want to play final fantasy 7 cuz my cousin showed it to me when i was little. and yea by the time i was able to get one, ps2 was already 2 years old so 250$ canadian. and FF7 became my 2nd game i ever got. :D
the extended series of titles on the previous console urged me to make the purchase because i had a feeling they would have had an even greater library on the ps2.
Well no game specifically but I always liked Twisted Metal series, and that was my first ps2 game Twisted Metal Black.. my friend had given his old ps2 to me for a xmas present and went bought me a brand new copy of TMB but that is what started my ps2 game addiction
for me it was mgs 2 and devil may cry played the japanese versions of both b4 i had my own ps2 at a friends...like everyone else i was waiting for a price drop plus i had bought a dreamcast not too long b4 that wasnt too bad of a system just ahead of its time i think
DMC1 and being able to play PS1 games made me pick PS2 over XBOX (I already had a cube at the time), I ended up not likeing DMC1 much and PS2 seemed like a mistake to for a while. Of course that didn't last. :D
Madden NFL 2003 + NCAA Football 2003. The whole concept of importing the draft classes was the greatest thing I'd ever heard of in a video game at the time.
I felt ripped off when I first got the PS2 since the only games that were out was a japanese version of Fifa and the latestTekken. The first time I feltworthwhile that I made the purchase was when MGS 2 Resident Evil: Veronicaand FFX came out.
In the first place I didn't have the chance to have ps1 I already start in playing games in ps2 because I saw my neighborhood playing a kickass game that kill any people he want to kill. (and I know you know what that game.) GTA 3 That is where it all begin.
