fellow ps2 players, when will u plan on upgrading? and to what?

There's a lot of games left for me to play, especially rpg's, that are on the ps2.  of course like everyone else who hasn't upgraded, i want to.  but to be honest im somewhat disappointed with the game selection so far.  right now i plan on getting a 360 in a year or two. im a 16 year old kid who makes a weekly 5 dollar allowance, so im guessing a couple christmases from now.

Already have a 360 with a Wii on the way. 

 But when do I plan on retiring the PS2 and upgrading to a PS3?  The original goal was Feb. 2009.  Now, I'm optimistically eyeing Christmas 2008.  It really is in their court to lower the price.  Like you said, there are still enough PS2 games to last a couple years without missing anything.  

Well, I've had a PS2 since '03 and recently got a Cube the first day of '07, so I got the PSCube combo goin' for now.

Currently, though, I'm saving up for a PS3 and aiming to buy end of Summer or start of Fall to get Ratchet & Clank Future, along with other titles that will either be released by then, or getting concrete release dates.

Maybe even hoping for a price drop for that first year the PS3's been out.

I was pretty close to picking up a Wii, though.. but never found it, so I ended up spending about $500 to get a Cube, nearly 20 games and a new 32" TV, lol.

after having the ps2 since 2000 i will probably upgrade in a year to the xbox 360

I have to agree with more than half the people on this board; the PS2 has too many good games to play (especially Japanese role-playing titles) and with the entire Burnout series, GTA, Wild Arms, Suikoden, Jak and Ratchet & Clank series, where else can you go for some of the most entertaining games in the last generation for about $20.00 each?  Not to mention that it can still play our movies/anime/music collections.

I've thought about upgrading to a PS3 in August, but too many decent titles are coming soon to the Wii and the Virtual Console is really appealing.  There's also the Xbox 360 for true next-gen gaming if funds permit.

For now, I'm happy with my four-year-old PS2.  The only thing bothering me is the overpriced HDD that I still have installed.

I've had my ps2 for almost 6 years and plan to be getting a ps3 whenever I have enough money(towards the end of this year maybe).

I should be getting a job soon and that'll pay probably about $6.15 an hour but I can't really say how many hours I'll get(hopefully a lot, the more I work the sooner I get a ps3).

It's probably going to be around september, that's when Gamestop says that Metal Gear Solid 4 is coming out.

I'm pretty much only anticipating White Knight, Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy XIII, and Devil May Cry 4 as of now, but I'm sure that in time I'm gonna be anticipating a lot more.

As for a PS3, I really don't know if I'll ever get one. If I did, I guarantee it would be after a price drop. As for the Wii, I really don't like it to be honest lol 

I will not be upgrading to PS3 until some RPG's start showing up.(probably 2008 )  I will be picking up a Wii sometime this year however...

Still enjoying my PS2 very much.

I have a Wii, but I use my PS2 just as much. My PS2 will be just as important to me as any next gen console until the day it stops working. Even then I will just buy a new one! Long live the PS2!O_Rly_FTL

haha it would be nice to get a new slim silver ps2 to get rid of my original one but my ps2 always works fine except for 1 or 2 freeze ups on 2 different games. i don't think i'm getting a wii or definitely not a ps3 any time soon. 

i'm planing to upgrade to pS# maybe 2010.... money is the no.1 reason...

I will be making the move eventually to a PS3.  Before I do so, my television needs an upgrade to take advantage of the improved visual technology.  The current crappy little 13" SDTV in my bedroom is hardly sufficient.

 I've thought about getting a Wii, but I can't help looking at it and thinking "gimmick replacing technology."  Then again, I've never played it, and it seems like one of those experiences that must be felt to be understood.  So who knows...
