90% of GTA consists of driving somewhere, then watching a cutscene then driving someone somewhere then watching a cutscene then driving them back to where they came from. Its almost like a taxi game. There are a few good missions but most of it is just escorting people around in your car. Ballad of Gay Tony is a thousand times better than vanilla GTA4.bonafidetkThat's why they have a fantastic atmosphere and the most detail in the gaming world, GTA games, to make driving and exploration fun, the DLC for 4 wasn't, since it was the same city with lame characters and only short appearances of the characters that made 4 great.

Using Taxis and to a lesser extent, trains, to get around in a psuedo fast-travel manner is also worth mentioning.
Started playing the game yesterday. The shooting missions are enjoyable, but the driving missions are too damn frustrating mainly due to poor controls. When played with keyboard and mouse, the vehicles swerve out of control so easily. Thus far I'm able to complete shooting mission in the first attempt itself, but the driving missions are taking several attempts due to very poor handling and controls. The worst was Brucie's racing mission. It was so damn tough to drive while ensuring it doesn't swerve out of control. This game DEFINITELY needs a controller for the driving parts. Unfortunately, I'm kinda broke right now so unable to purchase a controller. :(
Use the brake/handbrake, problem solved, no idea how people have problems with the driving, it's by far the most enjoyable and easy to handle with a keyboard in the entire GTA series.DanielDust
Well.....I just tried driving on my friend's PC with his controller, and its MUCH MUCH easier.
Whether you use mouse and keyb or controller, the driving was a bit taxing at first, but once you get the hang of it and drive the nicer cars it was pretty sweet!

If you don't use a controller when piloting helicopters, GTA IV will give you nightmares.
Seriously, flying with kb/m is the worst.

Its all about skill and flying helis in GTA IV is not that bad with a keyboard and mouse, though i will grant you its very very easy when you use a gamepad.[QUOTE="FelipeInside"][QUOTE="fighter91"]I thought the controls in the game were some of the worst I've ever had to experience in a video game. The controls alone completely stopped me from playing the game. I didn't really care how good the gameplay or the story was if the controls were so unintuitive. harry_james_potLOL, try playing Assassins Creed 2 on PC with a keyboard.... no idea what key does what since they are all symbols in the game. I played AC2 with a keyboard and never had a problem. Same here, never had a problem with the Controls and i can easily remember what button does what but yeah Symbols for the Controls are pretty unnecessary.

I recall a mission on san andreas where you get dropped in a ship without weapons, the option of course being to jump ship, obtain weapons, and then hop back in. The freedom of creativity for the missions is what make gta one heck of a sandbox game.

OMG! You're scaring me! I thought driving with KB/M was hard enough, and now you say this! Are these helicopter missions mandatory or optional? If they're optional, I'll definitely skip them.

There are about 2 iirc, the rest being optional helicopter rides for some achievements, but it's easy to control them with a mouse and keyboard, if you managed to play them in Vice City with m/kb, now that was a frustrating experience, that RC helicopter mission forced upon you to destroy that still in construction skyscraper was worse than the entire mediocre GTA 3 condensed into one single moment (yes I do not like GTA 3).[QUOTE="SPYDER0416"]

You don't use them too much, but there are about 3 or 4 major chopper missions. One at the end, and a couple for the Paper company or whatever.
Definitely use a controller, it's possible to do it with kb/m, but yeesh... not nearly as easy as with a controller.
