In fairness the backend for windows 8 was a big step up from Windows 7. It was more reliable (though 7 was pretty good) and felt a lot snappier and it booted quicker. If windows 8 had a tweaked 7 UI it would have been very nice. Just that UI....yeesh.
In saying that....maybe MS should take another look at it. With more devices like the steam deck coming to market, it would be nice for windows to be more suitable from a UI perspective. Even porting the Xbox UI over would be good.

Yeah Windows 7 was very good. Microsoft was smart to ditch that garbage Windows Vista and replaced it with 7. I also agree with you that windows 8 is very forgettable. So far Windows 10 has been good to me but I still miss Windows 7 in the end.
