It really depands when you play the game and if your is really high volume for example if you play the game at night and in a very dark room then yes you might get very scared when playing it but if you play it during the day then i reckon you should be alright when playing it.

Some moments might make you piss/crap yourself, but it is not consistent throughout the game, unless you are scared REALLY easy

it will make your wee wee cringe and go hide back inside your body because the game sucks that bad.

seriosuly though.yea it has a few "oh my god" moments (like the dentist chair) but its pretty much point click shoot.very generic butgreat story and art .

Bioshock's good, but if you want a game that'll make you piss yourself then get Dead Space. That game will make you constantly look over your shoulder.

In terms of being scary, Dead Space wins over Bioshock. Eventually, you'll get used to the scare tactics being used in both games, so the scares do fade away. That being said, the scare factor lasts a lot longer in Dead Space. For the record, I didn't find Bioshock scary as all. I did like the atmosphere but it didn't scare me.

Play System Shock 2 or Penumbra if you want scary. They won't just make you pee in your pants, they'll make your underwear pee in your pants.

The first chapter of the game is quite chilling and creepy, and there's a couple of bits in the Medical Pavillion (the second level) which might make you jump... but overall it's not a particularly scary game, and gets even less scary as it progresses.

the only bit that immediately comes to mind that's something like that is in the Medical Pavillion... the lights go out at one point and about half a dozen enemies with wrenches come at you from all angles. apart from that, i can't really think of anything else. the horror aspect of the gameplay lies mainly in the overall atmosphere and ambience.

the part of the game that would be most likely to make you jump is that dentist bit you mentioned. so if you think you can cope with that, you'll be fine.

Bioshock ain't scary at all dude, but I can assure you that the atmosphere is kinda creepy, but not scary, mainly because enemies do not scream and do not pop up right in front of your face or at your side at some point, besides, something about being afraid of something in a game is related to your character's vulnerability (like Survival Horrors), your guy's kinda though.

bioshock isn't scary, it could have been but it has too many hilarious lines from splicers and colorful settings, that doesn't make it a bad game, too much scares can weigh the game down. However I think they could have used more.

Its scary at first if you aren't use to it. The whole game is about the same throughout, only a few things at the beginning that you may find scary.

The game is very atmospheric, and as others have said, petty creepy. It can make you jump occasionally, if your not aware that a splicers behind you, or even when your at a weapon upgrade station, and when you turn round theres a paper mache spider splicer staring at you in the face.

But around the middle of the game is when your character gets tough, so that small but somewhat scare factor wears off a little. But still a fantastic game none-the-less! ;)

The atmosphere is very well done in the game, and there are a few times when things jump-out, but over all not really. It's more like... * Walking around, looking at the amazing work put in the environment and everything*, *Random guy is talking to himself in the next room*, *Run in and he will yell something, then you kill him* There are some exceptions like those Spider Slicer thingies that you know they are in the room when you hear some heavy breathing. Compared to games that are meant to actually be a horror game and scare the **** out of you, Bioshock is not much. It's more the atmosphere that is just creepy at times.

If you want a game that relies on "jump out at you" scare tactics, go with Doom 3. That game solely relied on the startle factor for being scary. Bioshock I didn't really find scary, although I loved the game. And Dead Space was probably the scariest game I've played, also the goriest. Also, STALKER definitely has some scary moments, but if you're going to play that definitely get the Oblivion Lost mod.

Bioshock is'nt the sort of game that makes you pee your pants. If you really wanna pee your pants with fright then try out Dead Space cause you'll crap yourself. Well I did'nt but judging by how scared you get on all these things you probably will. Dead Space is a lot scarier than Bioshock. Try the demo and see what you think or get Bioshock 2 when it comes out in 2009.

Its not super scary, but there are a few parts that had me a little un-easy so to speak. Mainly because the atmosphere in Bioshock is so amazing imo.

Bioshock sure did its atmosphere good.

I know wat u guys mean now .the game itself is not really scary but the sort of surroundings or atmosphere it makes is slightly creepy not scary.

So far the game has really not been scary except one part where i just got a a sort of jolt ( the part where there is a corpse in a coffin i just went to search it and BAM a splicer throws the thing and comes to smash my head)

good game though so far liked it

It's more psychological horror than anything else. It's the kind of game that can be morally shocking. The things the splicers say as they fight you or each other or the desicions you have to make with the little sisters. plus there's the sergeon and the artist characters that are really morally f-ed up. haha It might make you jump, but more than anything it'll make you think. best part of the whole experience imo.
