$400?!?! Does that include hardware?

Mines unlimited, if I find a game I really want then I buy it. The biggest problem these days is time, I still have an unopened box with Supreme Commander in it :(

Wow woo Woo Eee! I buy a new game on average once every 2 months, and they're usually $30 or less - rarely does a brand new game look good enough to justify the $50 price. But $400? How do you even have time to play 8 games a month? That's amazing!

my budget is unlimited, but that doesn't mean i spend much - i don't buy for the sake of buying

this month i bought so far:

farcry (£5)
doom 3 (£10)
exhumed (£6)
vampire the masquerade: bloodlines (£5)
boiling point (£5)
worms 2/armageddon double pack (£3)
(preoder) s.t.a.l.k.e.r (£25)

if the games i want are there, i buy them - if that means i spend nothing, i spend nothing - if it means i spend £200 - then so be it

i've never been in a position where there were so many games worth buying that i couldn't afford them, usually there's only a couple decent games a month to buy - but these last few months there's been nothin', so i've gone back and bought some of the great games i missed out on, or have since misplaced and want to replay

glad i did, bloodlines is one of the best rpgs i've ever played so far

Do you realize you could be paying for a nice car with that monthly alotment? You could then drive around in the "real" world enjoying a "real" life. :D Just an observation, not trying to criticize or anything. :)

How do you like Boiling Point? I created a whole thread on this game because I just bought it this month and I love it. It seems that before the European 2.0 patch, the game was too buggy to play, but now it's fixed and I think it's terrific.

My work allows me to close my office doors and get in about 4 hours of gaming a day.

it actually only just came this morning and i spent most of today playing bloodlines!

i patched before playing and fired it up and it runs smooth and feels stable - but my first impressions aren't great so far - the voicework and characterisation is pretty awful, and since it starts off in a city, all kind of roleplay-y, an awkward interface, bad characterisation and un-engaging plot is the worst possible start - it's gonna be kind of hard to get into, i think

but i get the impression that it'll get a lot better once i'm a couple hours in, so i'm not judging it yet

it was your thread that inspired me to buy boiling point, by the way

I buy used games most of the time, but I did preorder C&C3 and I do buy sports games (Madden) the day the come out. Amazon.com and Half Price Books are great resources for older but cheap games - I've spent probably (including the preorder) around $150 in the last 30 or so days. Recent purchases (in the last week; it's spring break): MGS2: Substance ($5) Soldier of Fortune 2 ($1) Dungeon Keeper 2 ($2) Enclave ($5) Rebel Assault ($.01+$4 shipping) Privateer 2 ($10) Giants: Citizen Kabuto ($4.01) Not too bad right there, but once I beat the original God of War in a couple hours, I'll probably run out and get GoW2.

Oh man, You are lucky. We have a couple of smokin' computers at my work. But I have the kind of job where if I played a game for a couple of hours even, it would be obvious by how much I got done that I wasn't working. LOL. Even if I could get away with it, I wouldn't do it. I have a great boss and I would never waste "his" time (I get paid by the hour) by playing games when he's not around (he's only there each day for the last half of the day).

I'm not saying you cheat your company or anything. Just that everything I do a my work is "hands on" type stuff. I'm never sitting around with nothing to do while waiting for something to happen or anything.

It is hard to get into - but it gets so much better that it is worth it. You just have to play the game a bit differently than a run-n-gun shooter. It isn't uber-tactical like GRAW or something, but you do need to buy weapon mods, stock up on meds, and acquire (and maintain) a working automobile. There is so much to do; I think if you put in the time, you'll be very satisfied.

Wow 12 dollars
Internet 20 dollars
and maybe a new game once a month for the Wii or PC 50 dollars

So all together its 32 to 90 dollars a month. Could be less if I have a game to keep me busy or I borrow games from my friends.

budget per month is 65 bucks, that is if I do not save up for any new hardware.

I have all I need to play most to any game right now and coming out in a bit at high quality.

As for games, well, latest game I bought is Jade Empire, first game in years, and next is gonna be STALKER.

I love to browse gamspot and mobygames.com to find older classics then get them for amazingly cheap on amazon. If you do a lot of research on games when you have free time, when you go into a used game store or browse online you will know what is good or not, but unfortunately this leads to me spending far too much money. oh well.

Doesn't mean I can't spend more, just on average throughout the year I can spend that much. For example this month I expect to spend $140

Don't really have a fixed budget. If I really like something I will go buy it, but I rarely buy games at full price. Especially with lots of current games that can be completed in 10-15 hours I try to be patient untill the price comes down enough or look for classic titles in the bargain bin (the downside is I still haven't played FEAR for example..) I probably get an average of 10 games a year spending no more then 250 euros, I hope :)

Wow woo Woo Eee! I buy a new game on average once every 2 months, and they're usually $30 or less - rarely does a brand new game look good enough to justify the $50 price. But $400? How do you even have time to play 8 games a month? That's amazing!

Ya, I havent seen a new game released for a while that is worth more than 45 dollars.  I usually just buy older, less expensive games that Ive considered in the past but never bought (i.e. Lock-On, City Life, etc).

Oh, I dont have a budget, I just get one game per month, sometimes two.
