What is the minimum frames per second you find acceptable?

Does it differ depending on the game type?

under 25fps makes me sad, but under 20fps is where I find things become genuinely unplayable.

Depends on the game. On a Call of Duty game, under 50 fps is not good. On other games 30 fps is acceptable.

25 is playable. 30 FPS is fine

35-40 FPS is very playable, but I'm still happy with 30 FPS, as long as it doesn't dip down, then 30 FPS is completely fine for me. On FPS'es such as counter strike source, then minimum of 50.

I play GTA4 on 20 fps but i see no difference or slowing down and i can easily play on that FPS.But on other hadn on some games 20FPS feels really slow and choppy.

120fps no more no less. (not really, pretty much any frame rate that doesn't show lag is good for me, around 30fps)

Dpends on the genre but usually under 25-30ish is when you begin to feel the difference. Some online fps games supposedly have an advantage for higher fps (wolfenstein?) so for fps online games I prefer at least 50, but generally 100+. Otherwise 30fps is fine for me on anything else.

If its a fighting game (like Melty Blood) 60 or nothing. RTS 40-50 is fine FPS - 50-60 (If its CoD it better be 60)

Man, you bring back the bad memories of trying to achieve a good frame rate in Microsoft Flight Simulator X. That game could barely do 15FPS for me. Nonetheless, 30FPS is the best.

20FPS is the lowest i'll go. But I did the SF4 bench mark test, that game needs to be played at around 70FPS+ anything less than 40FPS feels like slow motion.

I don't have a particular arbitrary number. It depends on the game and the jumpiness I get at that level. AA is usually the first thing to go if I have to compromise quality.

I prefer 30+ but I can deal with 20 FPS. I pretty much never get frame rates that low though, I disable AA and lower graphics settings if necessary.

I'd say 20.

In a game like say WoW, and in a big raid it could drop to 15 and its was alright.

I get over 100 in TF2. So I can't complain.

i say high 20's. Though it's hardly a problem given my hardware :) I'm most happy at at least 60 just because I know my money spent was worth it.

When it's under 30 I get upset. It's when it dips below 20 that I find it completely unacceptable.

Agreed. I don't enjoy playing the games when it starts to dip below this, especially in an online game.

For me, it depends entirely on what game I'm playing. On a game like Unreal Tournament 3, I need a minimum of 35-40. But, on a game like DCS: Black Shark, 15 is perfectly acceptable.

Of course, there are racing games which require the highest fps for me. In Test Drive: Unlimited, anything under 50 makes the cars feel sluggish.

I know most people bump graphics settings in games up to maximum, then just live with whatever FPS they can get... but if you're getting lower than 30FPS, swallow your pride and turn those settings down. Having a good FPS is far more important than a little more eye candy.

Except that in some games, having a high frame rate (30+) really doesn't matter all that much. I mean, sure, if the game is a twitch based first-person shooter, then yes, you would absolutely need higher than 30. But, if you're playing something like Titan Quest or DCS: Black Shark, 20-30 is perfectly acceptable (and, especially in Black Shark, having all that 'eye candy' is necessary, as everything [and I do mean everything...which includes identifying and locking onto a target] is handled visually).
