What is the best objective-based, team-based multiplayer game you've ever played? For me it has to be a tie between BF2, BF3 and Day of Defeat: Source.

There don't seem like there are a whole lot of others that are really primarily for objectives (different classes working together, etc.) Enemy Territory: Quake Wars had me really excited with its tiered objectives and how they had to be done by different classes, but it was too arcade-y/twitchy (enemies took a lot of bullets to go down) and everyone just switched to whatever class was required for the current objective.

The first Red Orchestra is one of my all time favorites. When not wanting to play to realistic then I like TF2 and the original TF classic. Many others I enjoy, but these top my personal list.

Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142,
but probably Project Reality for Battlefield 2.

2142 seems to improves on Battlefield 2's team stuff but I didn't play it as much for some reason.

Never having played the Battlefield series online, I'll go with Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Had some great campaign matches back in the day, and the objectives were well thought out.

If you consider CTF objective-based, then UT2k4.

Probably Battlefield 3 or Bad Company 2, I'm stuck since BC2 focused more on squad tactics and played better on Rush, but BF3 is more open ended forcing more team tactics, but also kind of makes team tactics less useful at times in some areas (like in Metro, or when dogfighting).

TF2 is also pretty good, and the Rainbow Six games kind of introduced me into them before I played BF2 (which I like, but not quite as much as newer BF titles, which I guess makes me a heretic).

TF2. Don't really like the battlefield games, Tribes is close but there's a lot of issues with the game.

The one I have played the most is Team Fortress 2. I used to play Counter-Strike a whole lot as well.

Yeah for sure. If you don't think it's Team Fortress 2 then I'm pretty sure you are doing something wrong or you haven't played the game before.

World in Conflict and L4D 2 versus (when you actually manage to find a good, close game)

The former was so awesome, its community died way too fast though.

Yeah, neither of those games are team-based, objective based games. One is a tactical strategy game and the other is a co-op survival game. You fail hard at posting. Please stop.

prolly quake live in like organized ctf or TDM, maybe even sometimes clan arena. In CS it's bait your team to get high KDR
TF2 is fairly team oriented, but I think TDM in ql is more team oriented since people actually drop weapons for you if they have spares ;x

Enemy territory wolfenstein, but that was back then. People played for the objective, and sometimes win mission in short amount of time with a group of 3 people. something like that. Now it's probably left4dead 2, provided you got a good team, the versus can get really tense and calculated.

You clearly haven't played World in Conflict. It is as much teamwork based as team fortress 2. Air players kill enemy tanks, friendly tanks kill enemy infantry and anti-air, support players repair friendly vehicles and provide anti-air, and infantry supports everyone.

Left 4 Dead 2 versus requires a huge amount of teamwork to succeed. Any competitive multiplayer game where you play on a team with others is is 'co-op' in the sense you are supporting each other to win.

The amount of ignorance in your post is impressive.
