Wow I am never getting Vista then.  That is just so rediculous, I know illegal downloads is a problem, but where does the line between privacy and the law get drawn?

oh Sh*t are you serious? you guys know how service packs normally stop at #2, then after then next os comes out, a SP3 comes out? what if some guy disabled it or emu-ed it, after the important sp2 update, so for the next 4 years, we wont have to worry about not getting updates on our fake vista? on the other hand, im disgusted at how microsoft is trying to control the way we compute, besides the illegal DL thing, you guys hear about the DRM that vista has? ridiculous...

Correct me if I'm wrong - but its not that Vista will downgrade HD content if you dont have correct hardware - its that the industry is requiring that to happen if its to be played in the first place.

IE if you tried to play HD content on an OS without the DRM that vista has - it simply wouldn't play.

Honestly dont know for sure, but really I dont think the problem is vista/microsoft - its hollywood.

People complaining because it won't be as easy for them to break the law anymore. Great generation we got here.

Ya, your logic is good but the argument is bad.

This issue I see with Vista and the [supposed] inability to play all your "illegal" songs and movies is that it is forcing something on you.

So, instead of letting you break the law and then suffering the consequences, it is not even giving you the option at all.

Ever see the movie Minority Report?  Its kind of like that, only not so severe.  Ya, a bit of a stretch but I think you can see the similirities.  Penalizing people before they commit a crime.

I'm in your topic. Listening to unauthenticated music. Using Windows Vista. ZOMG!

People are making far too big a deal over this. Vista doesn't really screw with anything.
