interesting article about this at Universe at Warnaval
As a software developer, I would argue that this article is largely incorrect. INTERNAL testing is the key to delivering a quality product. The modern public beta test is as much for publicity as it is for bug finding. Outside of fatal system issues, external testing isn't used for much. It is your paid QA team that's in the same building as the code monkeys that get the daily/weekly builds and test them. They're the ones that find the bugs and ballence problems.
Back on topic, I started the download before work and unfortunately Crysis is about to start consuming my life once I finish off the Brumak... just too many games.

As soon as I read those words on a gaming forum... I stop reading.
I played it. Its....OK.
There are some really neat ideas to it. I like how there werent many different units and essentially you can bring your base with you. Playing as the badass invading aliens is nice too.

as important as alpha stage (internal testing) , you should not neglect the importance of beta (selected public) testing espcially in pc gaming where there are almost infinte number of different hardware configurations
