HI, Would like to know what the game was that hooked you and started you out on pc games.

Does not matter how old it is or how new.

I wonder if you can remember Rogue. it was a simple game where you had to do spells and open doors and get scrolls and so on. It was extremely simple. I have been hooked ever since. PS about 18 years ago. and Nest, it was a army based platform game.

cheers

One of two games: Warcraft: Orcs vs Humans The Elder Scrolls: Arena The Elder scrolls is the best RPG series for computer in my opinion, and Warcraft got the whole ball rolling on the Warcraft genre. Both excellent games...man I remember when those were cutting edge graphics. :P

No One Lives Forever 2

That's what I'm going to answer you with :)

I've been gaming on the PC a long time. I remember playing the Space Quest games, Les Manley: Lost in L.A., Tomb Raider when it was first released, etc on the PC, and at the time I was a PC gamer of course, but I still played alot on consoles as well.

After NOLF2 I'd say (and interestingly, I had never played Half-Life, Deus Ex, NOLF1 before this point) things changed for me on the PC. It was such a freakin' awesome game!! I think it introduced me to something I hadn't really gotten into before - cinematic/story-driven first person shooters.

Now the PC is almost exclusively the only platform I game on :) and of course by this time I've gone back and played the great classics that I missed years ago.

I still consider No One Lives Forever 2 among the best ever, I just played through the campaign yet again about a month ago.

Video games in general: Asteroids

Arcade: Gauntlet, Pac Man& Space Invaders

Amiga500: Gold boxes (as the logo on my left)and Lemmings

PC: Baldur Gate

Online Gaming: SRE (Solar Realms Elite, played on BBS), the 5 turns limit per day is really addictive and allows you to play with casuals and hardcore alike. I remember thinking about the game for hours...when I would play maybe 10 minutes...right after midnight (reset of the day).

Internet: EverQuest ( I would still not be connected to the net if not for MMOs)

Wow! I guess I'd have to say "Age of Empires II" as well. I was sort of surprised after I thought about it. Of course, I didn't play game for years after college, but that was the first game of what I'd say is the modern age of gaming that hooked me. However, it was "Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive" that really hooked me.

This frog game for the PET...I was less than a year old.

Doom hooked me on multiplayer gaming...I was 8 playing death matches with weird 40-year-old men with passion for computers that make me look un-geeky by comparison. It sounds shady but this one guy let me hold his ak47 when I was 9...so sweet.

Anyways...yeah...I've always been hooked on PC games but I didn't convert to mainly PC until I played Half-Life. After that, I don't think I ever had the desire to play console games again.

The fact of playing on a computer got me hooked up. On those early days, EVERY game was awesome: Wings of Fury, SimCity, Street Rod, Test Drive 2, Stunts.

Then I got a VGA card and was able to play Wolfenstein 3D, Duke Nukem 3D, Doom 1&2, Heretic, Strife, SimCity 2000, Wing Commander, Privateer.

So, I wasnt hooked up to PC gaming by a game. I got hooked up because my dad bought a computer

Wolfenstein (the first one).artur79

Castle Wolfenstein (the platformer of the early 80's)? Or Wolfenstein 3D (the FPS of the early 90's that started it all)?

Anyway, same here if you meant W3D. I was barely five years old when I played that. :P

My two games of choice would have to be Wolfenstein 3D, which came out when i was very young.....this got me into playing games on the computer in general.....but it wasn't until Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, that I REALLY got into playing on a regular basis.

Hmmm this is tough.

When I was little, I was huuuuuge into flight sims. So these games hooked me:

Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe
Aces over the Pacific (with 1946 expansion, hoorah!)
Tie Fighter

Then, some games that kept me hooked are:

Dune 2
C&C series
Duke Nukem 3D (my mom actually got a kick out of this game)
Halflife
Deus Ex
Diablo 2
WoW

I'm absolutely sure all of you will laugh at this, but, the first game on the PC I played (other than pinball and solitaire) was Army Men... well, I was only seven at the time, to my defense. I quickly, quickly moved on to HOMM 3, Age of Empires II, Homeworld, Diablo etc.

I've been playing PC games since the early 90's; started with the old Dynamix flight sims, Aces over the Pacific, Aces over Europe, and of course, Red Baron. I wasn't really into gaming though; it was just something else to do. What got me hooked though, buying games, instead of borrowing my brothers stuff that he wasn't playing; that got me to go out and build a new machine so I could play the latest and greatest: Fallout. After that, I gobbled up almost everything that Black Isle put out. From there, I branched out into Shooters, adventure games, ect. Pretty much cured me of watching TV...and for that I am most thankful.
