Just curious...has there ever been a game you were looking forward to so much that turned out to be so horrible that you actually became seriously depressed, furious, or had some other extreme emotion?
Quest for Glory V left me sad for a solid week.

Call of Duty 2 is the most dissapointing game I have ever played, but it didn't really have a bad effect on me. I still liked it, but I prefer the first game by miles.
Serious Sam 2. Decent game, but still a big letdown and not a worthy a sequel to the first games at all, in my opinion.

Aww, I liked SS2. For me, it was Deus Ex, Invisable War.
Hell yeah i agree 100%. Some sequels that arnt as good as the first game in the series but are still good in there own right are ok to me (KOTOR2, etc..). But the 2nd Deus Ex i just couldnt get itno at all. I tried and tried so many times to enjoy that game but i just didnt at all. It wasnt a matter of it not being up to par with the first game in the series, but that the game itself just was terrible imo.
Bioshock, definately.
I spent months hyping myself over this game then it came out and it played like ass.
Saddened me =[
Also, American Mcgee's Alice let me down. Not because it was a bad game, no in fact I loved it, but it was so freaking hard D:< Made me very angry.

It was beatable if you stuck with it, though I did have trouble with the end Boss.
The Longest Journey was a big dissapointment to me. Took 3 chapters to get going, had non-intuitive puzzles all over, and had a dissapointing end. By far the middle sections were the best. Not a bad game but dissapointing.
I though you meant a emotionally moving game, in that case: Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy), no game can come close to the presentation of the characters and how deep they are, really depressing game.
And now to your topic:
Damn, I can't find a game that fits your description, I rarely find games that I hype to death and fail, but I think that Command & Conquer 3 might be, and RA3, will be my next dissapointment.
Deus Ex: IW - Oh man, what a let down. The first was amazing, with an intruiging plot and a very long, expansive story/campagin. IW just seemed . . . meh. Great graphics. Nothing else.
Star Trek Elite Force II - The original stopped the trend of really bad ST games. EF 1 was great. A little short, but a really good story. Also, some pretty fun multiplayer. EF II was supposed to be even better, but it wasn't. Crummy AI, weak plot, weak character development, and a graphics engine that was showing its age.
Crysis - What a let down. About 10 hours of actual gameplay. Phenomenal graphics, but sub-par controls and a lame story.
