Starcraft.
Max Payne.
Call of Duty.
These games worked on my comp. which I had since 2000 with no upgrades.
Hopefully these will work with you!
Unreal tournament 03 and 04.
Battlefield 2 (maybe)
Call of duty and medal of honour
Rise of Nations
Heroes of might and magic 4
Command and Conquer series (they all run good on bad pcs)
San Andres and gta seriestimma25
Ā
battlefield 2 would never run on it, it requires alot more than source
i would suggest empire earth, sim city , the old half life stuff (cs, day of defeat, deathmatchĀ etc.), lord of the rings battle for middle earth...just make sure before u buy anything to check the system requirements
can sum1 tell me why i cant put c l a s s i c after deathmatch? its forbidden for sum reason
half life 1+ all the mods that come with that, www.Ijji.com has a few good games, Postal 2, the old C&C, Starcraft, Quake, CS 1.6, Battlefield 1942
Ā and i cant think of anymore.

First things first, download Xfire, as it's the best PC gaming online management tool you'll ever use(It's AIM but for PC gaming and it offers almost all the same features as Live does, minus the achievment points but it does track your games and time spent). Also, if you want, check out Halo CE, and all the custom maps they've got going on. I'm sure you've already played it, but for less than 20 bucks, you should enjoy the multiplayer. Max payne 1 and 2 are great, as well as the first Deus Ex, which is an RPG.
Warcraft and Starcraft battlechests will do you perfect as well if you want to get into some great RTS games that aren't that complicated and highly addicitive. If you like Adventure games, I would highly suggest The Longest Journey. For space sims that are still great today, definately pick up Freespace.
Oh and a must haveĀ is Enemy Territory(google it), it's a free download and it still rocks to this day, and you should have no problem at all running it.Ā Ā

can you tell us your specs? that way we can answer your question better.
but anyway, whatever you do, lol, do not buy BF2 and definitely not Fear. if you're lagging in Source, these games would probably turn into power point slides on your pc.
My list of favorite "old" games would have to be something likes this...
Starcraft (RTS)
Homeworld 1/Cataclysm/2 (RTS)
Majesty (RTS with a twist)
Rome: Total War (RTS/Civ game)
Total Annihilation (RTS)
Heroes of Might & Magic III / IV (Turnbased Strategy)
Diablo II (Hack'n'Slash)
The Neverhood (Adventure)
Serious Sam (FPS)
Unreal Tournament (FPS) - And not the so-so 2003 etc versions. The good old UT
Deus Ex (FPS/RPG)
Neverwinter Nights (RPG)
The Elder Scrolls III - Morrowind (RPG)
Fallout 1/2 (RPG)
Think that just about covers it.... Lots of gems in that list - and by far most of them should run on even 5+ years old computers. Hope you enjoy at least some of them
HL2 and FEAR

Definitely not BF2. My 7600GT can't even max out that game, plus I usually get around the 20-30FPS area with only med-high setings @ 1024x768 res
onemic

Hey now, let's keep this friendly. When the author of this post said 'crappy computer', I think he really meant 'crappy computer'.
As in the straight out of the box run of the mill family room computer. Like an emachine.
Hmm, some RPGs could do with on a crappy comp. I'm going to add RPGs cuz theres not a lot.
How about Dungeon Siege 2? I have it. A moderate hack-and-slash RPG.
Or maybe Fable: The Lost Chapters.
Honestly, the best crappy comp running game I've had so far is the Dawn of War series, great performance, even on low.
the elder scrolls oblivion
fear
call of juraz
quake 4
cell facter
cod 2
company of hero's
and thats realy teh only games i think a week comp can handle:)

Oh know...Not you again...THe guy that claims the 8600GT is the best thing ever(Even though it's barely better than a 7600GT) and then dares to say I know nothing about computers? Your rig clearly couldn't have even gotten into the 30FPS range with that GPU and those settings you put it under. Don't lie to yourself.
