Just seeing some sweet old videos from Project Offset gives me massive cravings for sword slashing:(

Damn damn damn. Is it just me or is there an unusual amount of sci-fi / moderen setting games lately?

Sure, Medieval and Fantasy genre had a boom 5-6 years ago when the Lord of the Rings movies came out, but is things beginning to quiet down?

What have we had lately? A NWN2 expansion... A port of Assassins Creed?:I Not impressed.

And to look forward to? Diablo 3 and LoTR Conquest(which sounds really cool and long overdue... if your a fan).

Anyone who can name any others or recommend anything? I have taken a look at Blade and Mount but the graphics are really not all that appealing.

Dark Messiah is the closest game to Project Offset.

Rise Of The Argonauts may be the next big fantasy game.

there really isn't a whole lot on the upcoming fantasy rpg or action menu

I am looking forward to the planescape: purgatorio mod for nwn2, mysteries of westgate adventure pack for nwn2, and a couple indie rpgs, Age of Decadence http://www.irontowerstudio.com/, and Eschalon: Book 2 http://www.basiliskgames.com/

A really good upcoming fanatsy game would "King's Bounty - the Legend" . One of the reviews (of the russian version) mentions that the playing the game is like living a fantasy tale :D

Out of the released games in pasttwo years, besides the stuff others mentioned there is Titan Quest and witcher

if you like RTS games, you can check out Stronghold: Crusader, a historical RTS in medieval times. It's pretty good. I don't recommend Stronghold 2 and Stronghold: Legends though. Crusader is the best. the graphics may not be impressive today, but it's still great.

Right! If you never played Oblivion, it is never too late.

More games....aaaah....NWN 2 is great game, Titan Quest(+ Immortal Throne, becuse it has soooo many bugs!! !) even it is a little boring after you kill Prometheus, Gothic 3 is a solid game too, but can be a little boring.
A special game that can take your whole imagination and thought for the medieval times is The Witcher. It has bugs, but it is very playable. Completed it 3 times, but the campaing that came with 1.3(correct me if I am wrong) it not good.

Try diablo 1 and 2.

Diablo 3....WE ALL LIVE FOR THAT!

Gothic 3 is a great game. Just make sure you get the community patch, it's unplayable without it.

mount and blade warband is hands down the best medieval game ever made, if you're looking for action.

oblivion is probably most boring game ever. combat is terrible, story is too inconsistent and it lags even with good computer [funny i havent had problems with fallout]

only quests were somehow etertaining. [i really liked thief quild]

u forget skyrim, the witcher 1 & 2, divinty: ego draconic, & two worlds II. i havent even started discussion of non-western medival games :P ppl forget that weaponized crude combat happened in more than just the settings told in european storybooks and historical works :P the middle ages technically only ended after firearms became a global commodity. prior to that people were still chasing eacother down with swords, axe, bows, and the odd pitchfork :P
