When you pre-purchase a game on Steam do they charge you for it right away or when the game comes out??

When you pre-purchase a game on Steam do they charge you for it right away or when the game comes out??

They charge you for it right on the spot , thus the name "pre-purchase" and then the game will show up on your Steam tabs, telling you the game is not out yet. You can check out when it will become available by checking out the game's store page. Certain games allow you to pre-load (download the files) them so that on the exact time it releases, you can play the game straight away.

They also usually give you $5 off or free DLC if you pre-purchase. It's good if you know for sure you are getting a game. I usually wait for discounts after release though.

There are even some games that give you a free copy of another game from the same publisher. Would definitely look out for those.
