I highly suggest it if you like having fun.

Yeah, my gf, and I are thinking about getting 2 copies of this game so we can do it together.
Looks good, and fun.
The closest thing I have had to cart racing recently was Wipeout on the ps2. (plan on getting the ps3 version before long)
Honestly, at first I dismissed it, but lately I have been checking out the trailers, and had a real itch for some kart style combat racing.

You can do split screen with two controllers if you want.

Yeah, I saw that, but honestly, I don't like split-screen gaming anymore. It dillutes, and destroys the sound channels in the game, as well as screen space.
We will just get 2 on sale. We have 2 computers that should be no problem for this game.
I bought this because of all the great word of mouth going around (I really wasn't a Sonic kid back in the day), and...you're right, it's actually a really good cart racing game.
I'd have to play it more to make a proper comparison to Mario Kart, but ye gods is this thing loaded with features. The sheer variety of 'stuff' to play and unlock in this game is impressive, and more than makes up for the $20-whatever pricetag. Tons of modes in singeplayer, heaps of characters and tracks to unlock, and an overarching driver-specific XP unlock system could keep me playing this one for a while.
The actual racing is solid too. Cars control well (as do the air vehicles, less so the boats), the items make things interesting without being super-cheap (there are no blue shells in this one), and the tracks seem quite well designed (almost more F-Zero than Mario Kart in design - although sometimes they're a little too crazy for my liking).
Overall, it's a solid package.
Was gonna preorder it a while ago but didn't because wasn't sure if people would play it. Is the online very active?

Theres something about the controls that make it not as fun as MK imo.

I use a 360 controller for the PC version. It works great. What sort of problem are you having?
Maybe he can't go fast.Really good, I thought the original Sonic Racing was already a good alternative, Transformed is even better. It's up there with some of the better Mario Karts.
Whilst nice and colourful, PC version could look a bit better, in some parts the low polygons stand out.

I still notice the low poly geometry, I expect better for PC is all. But man, is that how that level looks on PS3? Doesn't even look like textures loaded![QUOTE="SAGE_OF_FIRE"][QUOTE="SaltyMeatballs"]

Maybe he can't go fast. Damn, I laughed.Mario kart seems to run smoother than the console versions, but I suppose that isn't a problem for the pc versionShinobishyguyPC version has some problems, if you play without vsync is is very choppy (as in bad framerates, not screen tearing). Vsync is highly recommended. MK is 60fps, so yeah not something these Sonic games can say on consoles.

Error. Error. Does not compute.
Are we playing the same game? Mine is always smooth with not frame rate problems and I don't have a powerhouse computer. As for graphics, it's more beautiful than any Kart racer I've ever seen. Are you just trolling or something?
Love the game. I did have to use the X360ce program so my ps2 controllers would work without any issue. No biggy for me since I always use it. I did wish they would have allowed splitscreen thru separate monitors. I haven't seen anyone really use that aspect of Pc gaming since Kane and Lynch 1. Would have loved to splitscreen to my computer monitor and TV screen but its cool. Definitely love the racing and shortcuts. It reminds me of Diddy Kong racing, waverace 64, mario kart and alittle bit of Rush Hour. I do love how even lower hardware computers can play this game pretty much maxxed out without a issue (unless your on anything prior to a 8800gt or 4800 amd sseries gpu).

Nice comparison, the PC always looks so sharp at everything it does ;)PC version has some problems, if you play without vsync is is very choppy (as in bad framerates, not screen tearing). Error? No error, you have a virus... well you are just misinformed, don't accuse me of trolling. Read this thread, inform yourself:http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=510997
As you can see. People with really high framerates are getting choppy framerates if vsync is not turned on. (not a big deal, so don't be upset for me pointing this out)
As for the graphics, it's my opinion. I agree they are great for a kart racing game, but I didn't say it wasn't, could be better for PC though.

So it has a bug with 120Hz FPS. Big deal. As your link said: they're fixing it.
Is there still decent amount of online activity? Very tempted to get it now...kidcool189
