So just how scary is Dead Space.

I was think of getting dead space for the pc some time this month but was wondering just how scary is the game is it like jump out of your seat scary or a creepy type scary.

Anyway it looked like a fun game I just wasnt sure if I should get it.

VERY TENSE would be the word...

But SCARY in parts too....

it's not really scary, it just makes you very paranoid (well for me) because you'll be checking if anything is behind you and always going into a new room slowly making sure it's clear to move on.

Pretty Damn Scary.

It wasnt scary at all...was more like an action game with zombies

Maybe I'm just bad at horror games (I am) but most of the scariness in the game for me came from "Okay, enemies could come out of any of these vents around me at any time. And I'm running really low on ammo. Crap."

It has a little shock value at first... So for the first mission or two it can be a "little" scary... But after that, you learn the golden rules and nothing is scary anymore...

Golden Rules:

1) Anything that is not human and is laying on the ground will attack you when you walk past.

2) Shoot legs off.

So after you get those into your head, enemies springing to life and attacking you won't be scary anymore... And enemies already attacking you won't prove to be much of a problem either... And for 90% of the game, you are fighting the same enemy (humanoid necromorphs/slightly stronger ones)...

Not really scary per se. After the initial "frights" I was drawn into the story. After awhile, the scares don't hit as hard since the monsters become so repetitive and predictible. It's still a great game though.

Very tense game with some jump scares would be the right definition, though I did find some scenes quite disturbing, and that's very much thanks to the excellent sounds and voice acting the game has.
