Want to build a 2nd pc. Want a fast processor for photo editing. In my 1st pc I have a I7 4790K, is that still a great processor for the money? one thing that is confusing me is I bought it last September for $279, and today it's like $329. Did it go up in price?

The i7 4790K is the most powerful LGA 1150 CPU you can buy, and there's nothing cheaper that is more powerful

Microcenter combo discount? the only place I know that does such things.

Aside for that, depends on the money you want to spend, any i7, you could go up to X99 socket.

If you want to save money, FX8350 is the direction.

4790K is good for OC. 5820K may see some benefit with DX 12 (6 cores).

If you want more powerful then i7 4790K then go with i7 5820K. If it's just for gaming, you'll be wasting your money.
