hi all, just wondering if my processor will be able to run games such as far cry and doom 3. my specs are: P4 2.8ghz 2gb ram with a Radeon 9200 (256mb) i realise its an extremely old card but i'm not massively into pc gaming, just want to play some games from the past that i've experienced/enjoyed from around the 2004/05 period.

They'll run. I've had experience with some pretty low end stuff so I'm pretty well aware that the 9200 can run those games.

i recommend a new gpu man.. lightyears better for you im serious

even like a 25 dollar gpu would SMOKE that old radeon 9200

i had a 9800xtx gold edition from celestica back before they started making fiber optic cabling and seriously it was the ebst deciion i made to trade up

might i recommend the 2400pro

now before someone rages hd 2000 series wtf??!! nub gtfo etc..

consider that the hd 2400pro came in every socket udner the rainbow, it wont bottleneck on his pentium 4 and is low power consumption, while being a significant improvement to preformance

with a 2400pro and a pentium d 2.8ghz i was playing oblivion on low, R6:Vegas on medium and doing doom 3 on highest no aa and af

the card wipes the floor with his 9200 and has driver support up to the start of the 10.# series.

Depending on what interfaces he has available, as well as price, power supply, etc. I'd go a step further and recommend an AGP 4350, it's even available for PCI, but hover just above $70.
