I think it looks pretty great, but until it's in my hands I won't get too excited about it1

It'll be bad. Having said that, it'll be a successful game with the casual gamers regardless. The second they announced the cover system and fatality system similar to the mediocre Splinter Cell Conviction - I knew this was going to be a disappointment. Who knows, it could turn out to be good, but absolutely everything I've seen seems indicative of an action-based console port.

It'll get great reviews and be loved by many. Many will probably tote it as an incredibly deep experience. In reality it'll be a decent game with good gunplay, stellar art style, maybe a good story, but it won't touch the original in terms of choice, dynamic game world, and thought provoking story telling.

It'll be a great console-y action-adventure game, but probably nothing like the original Deus Ex.

The preview in PC Gamer sounded promising. I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best.

going by the latest trend of games lately, it will be extremely short, buggy, dumbed down, have a narrow console fov, b.s. drm and overpriced.

The fact that they've released such good cinematic trailers and have told us so much about the art direction, rather than talking about the actual game, is rather worrying. This cinematic gameplay they've shown us - taking the control away from the player to show a takedown or climb up a ladder is not the kind of gameplay that Deus Ex has a reputation for - the whole point of Deus Ex is giving as much power to the player as possible, even if it comes down to little things like sneaking right up behind an enemy to perform a takedown, or climbing up a ladder by yourself. It is all part of the immersiveness of the game.

While the trailer is dripping with cheese, I am liking what I am seeing from the art direction, so at least the game looks like it will be very atmospheric.

Also, from what I've read in various interviews, Eidos sound like they have a grip on exactly what makes Deus Ex tick, and are aware of the challenges that developing such a game brings. This is despite the fact that they haven't really described the game itself in detail. I expect that the story and atmosphere will be very good, but I am doubtful about the gameplay.

I predict a game better than deus ex invisible war and better than most multiplats but nothing impressive, just a pretty good game. As for a port? Judging by what i have seen latelly i would say it will be a meh port. Not bad but not good either. Sadly i could not find a choice in your poll to vote that describes how i would rate the port. I dont know guys, for some reason eidos is giving me a feeling that the framerate will be weird in this game. Dont ask me why, just a feeling.

It won't be as good as the original, that said I think it will be a good game in it's own merit.

Even though I voted for "very good" I am a bit sceptical about the cover system. I really don't like that combat mechanic and I think it has no place in a Deus Ex game. That being said I'm expecting this game to have the best story since Bioshock.

Very good game, but a disappointg sequel (prequel actually) to the first Deus Ex. I'll probably like the multi-solution gameplay, the setting, the story and dialogs, but I'll dislike the lack of RPG skills, health regeneration, cover system and the one button kills (a.k.a. console stuff).

it is hard to tell, but apart from the 3rd person cover thing, I think It looks pretty darn good, the artwork, and showcased flexibility in missions looks awesome.

So I am hoping for a good game, Doubt it will be a great game, just plain good, and I can live with that :P

My prediction is that it will get very good reviews and support from the gaming news community. By today's standard's it will be considered a very good game. But will it live up to the bar set by the original? I seriously doubt it.

I am just gonna go ahead and say that the fact that the levels are complex like the first and not a bunch of corrdors like the second, is highly encouraging.

Bioshock in having good environment ok story.. But absolutely crap in anything coming close to character progression or real versatile gameplay..

Well this looks like the gameplay will have more options and the levels look big and complex. bioshock levels seemed pretty simple in comparison with say, system shock 2.

Looks good apart from the fact that it takes place 20 years from now and looks like it takes place 300 years from now...

Bioshock has nothing to do with Deus Ex. No point in drawing comparisons. Of course, they both feature some sort of a government control over people, but so does just about every other game when you think about it. chandu83

You missed the fact that they both feature emergent gameplay and are both RPG/FPS hybrids. Deus Ex is widely known to be influenced by System Shock, and by that it is linked to Bioshock. I'm assuming you knew that, though.

FPS _per se_, e.g. Half-Life or Quake. Anyway, I wasn't aiming for great sarcasm.

This seems the most accurate so far. Two things that I am 100% sure about are, 1) This will be a good game, 2) Deus Ex fan boys are going to **** to high heaven.

For crying out loud.....we talk quality wise in comparison with the previous non console focused installments.

Ah! quality wise you compare a game that is going to be released in 2011 with a game released in 1999? You do know that definition of quality has changed drastically in the last 10 years in the software industry right? I know this because I happen to be working in it. So...again...your comparision was not immediately obvious.

also when you say quality, what you are referring to is not the quality of the product, but rather how much you enjoyed the game. Because, the new Deus Ex might be a quality game in terms of not having any bugs and so on, but it could be very rudimentary in gameplay.

So essentially you are comparing gameplay. Not quality.

Once again you missed the point completly. Bioshock is a next gen system shock 2 heavilly impacted by consoles. Yet its pretty good. Now the thing is how will the new deus ex will turn out? A crap like invisible war, or dumb down but still good like bioshock? What i said is that i believe from what i have seen it will turn better than bioshock.

I think it'll be about as good as Invisible War. So thats about a 7/10 It'll look great, the gunplay might be a lot better, but I think it might have too much emphasis on action rather retaining than the scope of the first game

Once again, you fail to address my point. In other words, missed the point. When you said quality - I pointed out that quality standards have changed considerably in the past 10 years. So comparing the quality without knowing this rather pointless.

That made no sense. It honestly felt random. Please direct me to the specific part of your argument basis.
