Portal - I liked it. It made me feel clever. Much cleverer than what I really am. And that's a big part of Portal's appeal, I think - it wasn't really all that tough, but people thought it was tough, and it made them feel kind of butch in consequence.
It was pretty easy but frankly I didn't liked it much, I mean the only good things in it happen it the last 2 or 3 levels, the rest is just like a lame tutorial, the mod that was released for it is WAY better than the standard experience that you get from it, where Glados was the only thing that was relatively fun.
I don't know how some people finish it in one sitting etc. I found it to be quite challenging in parts. I like the story and the writing is really funny. Although I did think the story felt slightly over-extended in its arc when you reached that twist. I thought it was going to end but then it went on for another quarter.
I love Portal. I can finish it in one sitting now, but I couldn't the first way through. I've downloaded so many custom maps for that game. Loved every minute of it.
best part of The Orange Box. i wish that there was a way for me to forget the solution to the puzzles just so i can have fun doing it again. it was way too short and the challenge maps weren't enough to keep me hooked for too long after the main game, though.
It was an awesome game, and one of the things that made it awesome was that the difficulty was just right. I never got frustrated or stuck for too long but always felt like there was a challenge.
I'm not denying it's a decent game but I felt like I was just getting into it when it ended. Would it really have killed them to design more levels? Episodic expansions, released as free downloads (making new maps can't be that difficult, surely) would have done wonders for the reputation of Valve - I mean, look at the kind of empathy people feel for CD Projekt thanks to their free updates and add-ons for The Witcher and think - that's only a relatively small, independent studio.
I thought it was challenging and had to use a guide for LV 14. Then I got the hang of it and beat the final level by myself ( I was very proud) I don't know how anyone could finish in one sitting though.
I'd say I couldn't finish it in one sitting, but i didn't take all too long either. It was definitely challenging, a real mind boggler in places, but too short that is for sure.
I finished it in one sitting in slightly less than 1 and a half hours, game essentially had me glued to the monitor while I was playing. We need more puzzle games especially of this quality.
First of all i enjoyed the game ALOT... However i think it was way to easy... I would like to see more puzzles and complicated things and things where you need more reaction time.
Will i buy Portal 2? Hell yeah! :D Playing with other people for the win!
It felt like a fairly enjoyable demo. Don't really understand where all the love comes from.. It was 2 hours long, people. And despite it being that short, I don't feel like playing it a second time.
Took me around 2-3 hours to finish the game, now that I know what to do I'm pretty sure I can lessen that to an hour or less. i have however tried mind boggling custom made levels.
Portal was difficult on the first play through. Every time after that was really easy. If you're looking for more of a challenge, Portal Prelude is an awesome mod, and wayyyyy more difficult than the main game.
