PC monitor gets hot

I have a gateway 22 in. widescreen and I can feel the heat coming off from it from about a foot and a half away.  Just wondering if it's normal or not cus I just got it.

If it is a crt, thats fine. Lcd's do not normally get very hot, but crt's do get very hot.

It's a lcd, and it's mostly hot around the top of the monitor.

I have a sony LCD and after using it for a long long time it gets a little warm but not hot, if you just got i think you should take it back
