Oblivion and the Orange box. In my opinion, they are "meaty" games and will give you more for your money. CoD4 is good too though, if you don't mind the single player portion being so short
Well for your shooter game, The Orange Box is the obvious choice. It should be an easy decision for which RPG to get.
The Witcher is a better game than vanilla Oblivion, easily. However, Oblivion with OOO is in my opinion, better than The Witcher. But just imagine if a modder made something comparable to OOO for The Witcher...it would be pure bliss.
witcher = fun
oblivion = cool for the first 10 seconds
NEOSPARKING
that sounds about right for oblivion. i bought it a couple of days ago, and i already uninstalled it (mostly cuz i have better games to play, and i don't have much space on my hard drive).
Cod4 the best shooter this year in my opinion and a must buy. The singleplayer is a little short but multiplayer should offer more bang for your buck.
I havent experienced the wonders of orange box myself but knowing valves previous games quite well, I could say that you cannot be dissappointed with it.
Witcher was alright. It was super linear, containing not much to do, and quite not as good as some people make it out to be. It had a good story but I'd say your better off with the actual book.
Oblivion the holy grail of sandbox rpg's. I think that everyone should own a copy of this game. It has issues and leaves alot to hope for but nothing really what cannot be fixed with mods and trust me mods are the best thing about this game.
The Witcher is a great rpg, with better stoy than Oblivion. However, Oblivion could be a great entertainment in terms of hours playing if you mold the rules: If you want to create a good Warrior, exclude his most usefull skill from the 7 Main Skills; if you want to do a good Mage, exclude the magic skills from the 7 Main Skills; if you want a competent Spy or Thief, get out the stealth skills from the Main skills... Oblivion has a bad implemented leveling system which decrease your power compared to the world as fast as you increase your level. But if you read FAQs about how to deal with the system the experience could be very funny. You can even beat the main quest with your character at level 1 and with your most usefull skills at level 100. But overall The Witcher is better to me.
In the single player department, talking about fps, Episode 2 over COD 4, but I don't like a lot the "Orange Box Compilation". I have HL2 and don't see much reasons to pay again for HL2, and TF2 is not in my tastes (Quake Wars or BF2 are much better mp to me).
So my advice is: take The Witcher and Oblivion, forget OB or COD 4, play BF2 or QW if you want a good mp, and Crysis or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. if you want a good sp fps campign.
it depends on what you want friend. im a single player man so i dont play multipayer at all. for the rpg i never felt quite attracted to oblivion so i never played it. The Witcher i am currently addicted to because its so action oriented and has a great storyline that will keep you up late.
for the shooter,well again since i dont play multiplayer my bet is on call of duty 4.its just an amazing single player experience and its intense and challenging on higher. Also i've heard the multiplayer is pretty well put together and adds a lot to playability. The orange box in my opinion is over rated. Episode 2 is rubbish.play it if you want to know what is happening with the half life storyline. otherwise its not challening and isn't in any way "open" (although neither is call of duty 4 but it doesnt aim to deceive). the source engine is also showing its age and the hunters weren't challening at all.especially the last bit in the game with the striders and hunters coming in from everywhere.i mean honestly that has to be the most uninspired level choice in a game ever. was that supposed to be challening? on the other hand if multiplayer is your forte then Team fortress 2 will surely fill you up.gotta admit those wacky characters make me wanna try it out.portal has been touted as something otherwirdly in terms of game design and i don;t really see it. its a puzzle game at the end of the day and adds a bit to the episode 2 storyline but i didnt enjoy it all that much.
there you have it i hope that helped.
