Why ? A gtx 680 is actually the power you want if you want games on very high settings, 1080p, 60FPS, and with a decent amount of AA/AF (the next set of development kits/engine will be even more demanding so 1080p with a gtx680 isn't a waste consdering AA/AF are killers and the main advantage of the PC is running 60+FPS which in return takes more resources).

While it's a strong GPU, compared to everything else that's there it doesn't make much sense. You'd think that if he is willing to waste all that money on everything else, he would have the money to buy better GPUs to go with all that crap.

Not as fine as you would think considering he has a 120hz monitor takes some power to run the more demanding pc games out at that a framerate needed to make good use of the extra refresh rate without lowering the graphics settings.

you do realize he probably bought these parts when they were the best on the market right? Id say sometime last year before the launch of the 680/690. The 7970 is better but its not known for multi gpu setups. This dude is probably filthy rich.

Well the gtx 780/titan are only 10-15% faster for $650-1000 so in order to get a significant upgrade, he'd have to buy two of them (thats a ton of money to spend when games are still using old dev kits and + its hard to justify that cash when his gtx 590 is already pretty fast).
Since his card if fine for now + games aren't realy that demanding, he's probably waiting for the maxwell/volanic island series which isn't that far away (waiting for new architecture instead of spending a ton now).
