Hi, as the topic implies I want to get into PC gaming but I guess the first order of business is to get a good gamin pc right?

This is where I need help. I hear most people talking about building a good pc. Are there any good sites for this? And what can I get for a good gaming pc within the $500 - $900 price range?

I'm looking for something with a good cpu, ram, and gpu

Thanks for any help offered

Great build for 850. You could always spend a little less for the GPU and get an I-7 CPU or a 10000 RPM hard drive.....

Some general tips/thoughts:

CPU: Intel CPUs are generally more expensive and better performing than AMD CPUs. A solid Intel Core i5 is probably the best. I don't know that you would benefit much from a Core i7 for gaming. Even for multitasking, a Core i5 has 4 cores, which is a lot.

GPU: 760 GTX or AMD equivalent. Beefier GPUs tend to be focussed on higher resolutions (1600p or 4K) and struggle to reach 60 fps in those situations anyway.

Memory: 8 Gb is good. Generally, memory is either enough, or it isn't.

Motherboard: Compatibility is the biggest issue, as it connects different pieces. Needs to be compatible, in particular, with your CPU and with your memory.

IMO a good rig for gaming is

CPU: Intel i5 (preferably 2500k, 3570K, 4670k*best but maybe more pricey and I would prefer putting a potential $50 towards something else*) or FX-8350. These CPUs usually range between $180-250.

Motherboard: 2500k and 3570k go with z77 preferably, and 4670k goes with z87, and FX 8350 goes with 990FX (best) or 990X preferably. Decent boards with these chipset range between $100-150, and always purchase one with connectors and features you require or want such as number of SATA, USB 2.0, 3.0 (usually should get the number your cases front I/O has) ports and if you want crossfire/sli support

RAM: 8GB is enough for anything from my experience because I have 4GB and only one game has ever froze up and that was BF4. This usually around $60-80, though there are loads of options so there are bound to be some on sale

GPU: I would get nothing less than GTX 760 or HD 7950/R9 280X(AMD is overpriced right now) or GTX 770 if you got the cash because it is worth it. GTX 760 ranges from $240-260 and GTX 770 ranges from $310-330 (GTX 770 2GB). As for brand I recommend Gigabyte Windforce, Asus, or EVGA with ACX cooler

Case: Comes down to preference and I would recommend spending around $100, though I would maybe look at reviews.

PSU: Get a quality PSU that is around probably 600W and has good critic reviews. Cant go wrong with Corsair or Seasonic IMO.

HDD: Probably go Seagate Barracuda or Western Digital Blue around 1TB, and maybe in the future consider saving for an SSD.

The CPUs are overclockable and when you want more performance from them you can get a better cooler (CM 212 EVO is usually around $30 ). All this should come out around $800-900 (w/ GTX 760 at least) if you get deals, but Windows is usually $100. If you are still deciding on parts and am comfused with what I wrote, I do not mind making a product list. Dont want to waste my time if you are already content on parts you have picked
