My old laptop from 2012 has gotten painfully slow to use. cpu will spike up to 100% usage, not enough ram I highly suspect. I will use the laptop mainly browsing imageboards I could have "200+ tabs/200 hd image" open at once. also it has poor cooling it will get rather hot.

its specs are

  • i5-2450m
  • windows 7 64 bit
  • Intel HD Graphics 3000 (not sure what my usage is to be honest, could 200+ tabs be a bottleneck?)
  • 8gb DDR3 1066 or 1333 (not sure which)
  • 1tb hdd
  • 1600x900
  • 17.3" High Definition LED Display
  • 7.14 lbs (3.23865 kg)

What i'm thinking of getting is something with i7-7700hq, 16gb ram minimum, ssd, good cooling, ips screen. I'm not going to be using it for gaming unless it's for a vacation so gpu isn't a important factor.

I found this it's a little on the expensive side but has everything i think i need 1173.99 after coupon. i'd like opinion on the cooler looks good to me http://www.dell.com/en-us/member/shop/productdetails/inspiron-15-7567-laptop/dncwf408s

Spec

  • i7-7700HQ
  • 16gb ram (upgradable to 32gb)
  • 512gb pcie m.2 ssd
  • 15.6-inch UHD (3840 x 2160) IPS Anti-Glare LED-Backlit Display
  • 1050 ti 4gb
  • backlit keyboard
  • Weight: 5.76lbs (2.62Kg)

You think this will solve my slowdown? and suggestions are welcome.

@locus-solus: The laptop you chose is good for the job and it would also be nice for gaming, you could also pick an i3 for the job of: "I will use the laptop mainly browsing imageboards I could have "200+ tabs/200 hd image"

All you need is lots of RAM and SSD.

@locus-solus: If you want something cheap and light, you might also consider one of the current offerings from HP; personally I like the Spectre. I carry one of those around for work. http://store.hp.com/us/en/ContentView?storeId=10151&eSpotName=hpspectre

I kind of see these as HP's answer to the Surface....
