I just got a Lenovo 3000 N500 laptop with 2 Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family graphics cards. 256MB each I believe. How good are they for high-end gaming? Are they crap or alright? I'm trying to figure out which card I should replace it with. I'm not trying to get the very best card, but I want to be able to play Quake 4 or Doom 3 smoothly on high. The rest of my specs are: 2.00 gigahertz Intel Pentium Dual Processor, 1.99 GHz 2.96 GB of RAM

No, increasing the ram won't help your game performnace. The intel chips are just too slow for modern games.

Scrap it and get a new PC. Intel graphics adapters are not up to gaming what ever you do.

I dont want to get rid of my laptop, just need advice on how to make it faster. I know ram will help. Can you install new graphics cards onto laptops? is it really expensive?

Your laptop doesn't have a graphics card, it has a graphics chip. No, it can't be upgraded. The only upgrade you'll be able to perform on that laptop is more RAM.

Performance on any modern games will be terrible, regardless of the settings you use.

You can add more RAM but it still won't be up to gaming

you need a real graphics card to play new games well. It will probably run some games on low-med settings depending on what games. hl2/l4d should run, cod4 might on low but nothing new will run well on med settings.

first, uncharted 2 isn't ON pc.... second, learn some grammar, and third, your graphics chip probably sucks.

yes you can upgrade the graphics but you would have to send in the laptop and purchase the chip set from the manufacturer, since special tools are needed to get to the chip and more tools are needed to remove the old one and install the new one.

Intel integrated video is soldered onto the motherboard and can't be replaced in a laptop.
