Who uses LAN regularly anyway? biggest_loserthis is a necessary feature for games like moh. just like mw or other first person shooters. single player mode is too short. i hadn't time to try all weapons and finished it on hard so now i haven't motive to play that once more. (sorry for my bad english!)

Outdated or not it is the best way for play with friends. I still support LAN and I don't fancy so much the idea that developers are removing LAN support from their games. Miroku32The best as in? Do you really need to shake their hands after the game? Its inconvenient as hell unless you're going to an internet cafe.

Use the internet like everyone else. LAN is a nice feature on paper and makes the community happy, but it isn't used enough by the player base for it to matter to the devs.
Who uses LAN regularly anyway? biggest_loserFor anyone who actually goes to LANs, myself being one, yes - LAN is very important to me. Was stunned that SC2 doesn't have it, the amount of rage coming from the RTS players lagging there balls off playing someone next to them is highly amusing.
Actualy Lan is important to some gamers! I prefer lan gaming with my mates instead of playing with some random strangers on the internet. Plus ping times on lan would stay below 10ms, and everything would run smoother. Plus with modded games you can still play on lan ;) Lan increases the life span of any game if you ask me

Lol, it's just more fun playing in the same room with people that you know than over the internet (in which your so called outdated LAN is actually more convenient than the internet). And it has nothing to do with shaking each others hands after the game, actually I don't remember doing that, ever. It's just like it's different talking to someone over the internet and doing it face to face.

How is having to link up computers for a LAN or even travelling to an internet cafe more convenient than setting up a private server on the net?Who uses LAN regularly anyway? biggest_loser
while this comment depresses me, it is unfortunately true.
LAN is all but dead

How is having to link up computers for a LAN or even travelling to an internet cafe more convenient than setting up a private server on the net? You are kidding me right? Me, my dad and cousin play BFME2 over LAN every weekend, we don't have to use net and we get a great experience. Not to mention co-op rocks when player are in the same room. It also avoids the risk of internet breaking and/or lag(Since we don't got great connection).[QUOTE="sp1r1t"][QUOTE="biggest_loser"] The best as in? How is having to link up computers for a LAN or even travelling to an internet cafe more convenient than setting up a private server on the net?Lan is more convenient when many people are playing together in the same house. I'm not taking into the account, having to first go there with your laptop or desktop. I'm just saying when you already are there, lan is usually the preferred option (since there won't be any latency issues that can possibly come up when playing over the internet). A phone is a convenient tool when talking over distance, but you're hardly gonna tell me it's more convenient when you're standing 1 meter from the person you wanna talk with. It's the same with the internet, convenient over long distance, but silly to use in a situation where lan is all you need.
Why would it? It isn't a 1vs1 arena-game. Great English, by the way.

You're really showing your lack of knowledge here. It's pretty evident the thread-starter is beginning to have flashbacks to Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, a very popular LAN game. I remember at the LAN centers I would attend, some people even enjoyed it over other popular titles like Counter Strike and, when it was released a bit later, Battlefield 1942. MoH:AA was a truly phenomenal LAN game, but after the disappointments in the Medal of Honor franchise since then, it really isn't very surprising that the newest title has completely broken away from that trend.
Nice comment about his English, by the way. Perhaps it isn't his first language. Answer me this question: Did you have trouble understanding his post? If not, answer this question: Why even make the comment about his English? If you can understand what he's saying to you, it seems to me the smart thing to do would be keep your mouth shut and avoid unnecessary jabs at someone's language skills. Unless they're posting incoherently or purposely bugging you with it, there's no need to go there.

Just because it's outdated doesn't mean that developer laziness should cause for it to not be present in the game what-so-ever. Those who attend LAN parties are put through a sticky situation because unless you have a private server everyone can join online, you'll usually have to find an empty server and play that way or join a populated, online server, therefore hurting the experience because it doesn't feel like you're playing with a close group of people.

thank you. my language is persian (iran) and i can read english but i'm not good in writing. internet speed in our country has limitations for home users: 256kb!! pings are high. only way for us is playing on Lan.i think we must get back to COD:MW2.On Topic: LAN is getting less and less popular due to the internet become faster and faster as well as developers blaming LAN for piracy.
Off Topic: Your English is fine. As long as we can understand you it is ok, something that is poor English would be a letter from the government to the school I was in earlier where half of the words were not in English and the other half was.
The existence of a LAN option in games is nothing but beneficial for gamers. Developers are only removing it due to piracy concerns, which is incredibly wrong-headed.
I used to love playing with a few friends at one location and having zero lag, next to zero loading time, having complete control over every possible setting, and having the ability to create a dedicated server.
Maybe English is not his native language.....Why would it? It isn't a 1vs1 arena-game. Great English, by the way.

LAN is a completely outdated method. oh yep wow have you been living under a rock made of lead? have you never been to a lan? oh no we have to lug our computer away from my cave!, its called socialising people do it, and besides LAN outdated? wtf? it will never be outdated if anything over the net is more effort , first the lag because of having to send data back and forth between the isp and the other players but over lan it just goes between you and the switch(like any sane person would do)I regulary go to lans with say 10-15 people and redflag lan has an entire hall dedicated to it when its on with over 300 people over lan. (btw I signed up specifically because that comment was by far the dumbest comment ive heard about a lan.....ever)
every pc game with multiplayer option should have lan... seriously is there anything better than getting together with your friends, playing games, having a few drinks and tons of laughs? i gues not... it's a shame that devs nowdays are not including lan and i hate when they are saying that it is due to the piracy blah blah blah... we all know that this is bulls**t. Some people play through vpn that's true but it's not a plauge, besides it also happens that pirates quickly loose interest in the game, so using piracy as an excouse is cheap imo....
