I thought I would check Amazon for the heck of it. Pre-orders are up but the PC version is $60. Can BioWare be that serious? $60 is for Activision games.

I really don't get why people complain so much when it comes to a $10 hike in price. Does it suck? Sure. Is it that big of a deal? No

Yeah, devs need to the money. That's how I look at it.. I was paying $60 since the Super Nintendo days and I was like 7 years old. Saved money from allowance. :P

Yes it is a big deal, since those 10 $ can mean an awesome extra game, see Amnesia.

Isn't this becoming an EA thing as well, Medal of Honor is 60 bucks on PC and no one complained.

I think $60 will start becoming the norm someday for(some) PC games.

Medal of Honor - $60

Crysis 2 - $60

Assassin Creed - $60 (not sure)

Splinter Cell - $60 (not sure)

So yeah the $60 trend is slowly catching up, well at least for EA games, Activision and Ubisoft,

Yea, I mean back then you had games going for $100. People tend to forget it is getting more and more expensive to make games. If you (Not you specifically) don't think the Dev deserves it, wait for a price drop. Personally think ME3 is worth it, or at least I hope :P

Darn, I don't like the price hike, PC gaming has always been cheaper.. Oh well, at least we have steam sales, that easily makes up for it.

Console games are 10$ more expensive for a reason. Those 10$ go to MS/Sony. 10$ from PC gamers though go straight to the pockets of some CEO fatcat. Bioware is owned by EA. All money go to EA.

Those must be for various games in various gens because last gen I paid up to 50 bucks for every game that came out for PC, PS2, Xbox and Gamecube.

I understand your poinbt of view, it does suck. However, like I said it is getting ridiculously expensive to make the games and tbh, I wouldn't be all that surprised if we didn't see another price hike at the start of next gen.

It doesn't matter to me what the original price is. I won't buy a game till it's $30 or below anyway. Still that's just companies trying to squeeze more cash out of the consumer. Most people are to naive to take a stand so they'll buy it at that price point. I'll wait...

Oh yes, I started gaming back then in the early 90s and I didn't buy games but still played them, then again I was a kid. That explains that as well, Neo Geo games were like 120 bucks I think.

I didn't buy my games then either. My parents did, but I always remembered seeing those price tags. I didn't start buying my own games until the Dreamcast tbh (12 years old) :P

The only reason why games are 60 bucks on consoles is because of the extra licencing fees for using them. If this becomes standard for PC games I hope console games go to 70 bucks.

And the old old games that cost 60 bucks were for the cartridges because those actually cost something to make.

Don't worry guys...the price is bound to come down between now and release. It happened for Dragon Age 2. The moment the price dropped to $49, I snagged it.

I'm sure an online retail store will sell it for less. I didn't pay $60 for Starcraft 2 and I'm sure I won't be paying $60 for ME3.

I have no problem with paying $60 for a game if it is justified, but I expect the console version to be $70 if they are charging PC gamers $60. There is a clear extra cost involved with the console version that is NOT present with the PC version. Each copy sold on the console means $10 into Sony/MS's pocket via the console royalty fee. The PC has no such royalty fee and thus should always be $10 cheaper than the console version.

I love Mass Effect and I would love to buy ME 3 but if they are charging me the same price as the console version then I will wait for it to drop in price till it is appropriately priced for a PC game.

If they're moving up most pc games to $60 on release, shouldn't they push the console games to $70 on release? I'm curious since there is no reason for games to be $60 on pc, since there aren't the same fee's that are applied to the consoles.

God save us all, they'll ruin us out of house and home asking for an extra $10 which console gamers have to pay anyways!

The Witcher is 50$. And that's a PC game tailored for PC gamers. ME3 is just a console port. If ME2 is any indication, then it's a bad console port. Where's the logic in that, i mean please show me. I payed 60$ for Starcraft II and I'm gonna pay those money for DIablo III. I would pay those money for DA : O too.

Don't like it, don't buy it bro. Still don't think the original is worth more than $5 so I didn't pay anything above that. Voting with your wallet is the best way to protest things like this.

Seriously. Theirs no reason to buy a sp game at release other than lack of patience. By waiting you not only save money but you get get a fully patched game. Then theirs the workarounds that the consumers sometimes have to come up with. If I had bought ME 2 at release time I would have spent more time on the forums figuring out a mouse accelleration fix than playing the game.

Well it seems that EA still hasnt figuered out how the PC market works... I doubt that the pc version will sell alot under that price...EA is just following the Activision route.. They arent ramping up the price because they need it...far from it..its fueled by plain greed and idiotic marketing... I believe Gabe Newell explained it best--

he showed how that combination of service and smarter pricing allowed the company to run experiments and make a lot more money -- competing quite successfully against piracy. The most stunning example: last weekend, the company ran an experiment with the game Left 4 Dead. It heavily discounted the price, and sales shot up 3,000%. And this wasn't just a case of building off a small base. The sales over the weekend were more than when the game launched.

In fact, it looks like a big part of the problem facing the industry is that they charge way too much for their products. Here are the numbers Newell shared from Valve's experiments with "sale" pricing:

  • 10% off = 35% increase in sales (real dollars, not units shipped)
  • 25% off = 245% increase in sales
  • 50% off = 320% increase in sales
  • 75% off = 1470% increase in sales

And this wasn't just a case of building off a small base. The sales over the weekend were more than when the game launched.

In fact, it looks like a big part of the problem facing the industry is that they charge way too much for their products. Here are the numbers Newell shared from Valve's experiments with "sale" pricing:

  • 10% off = 35% increase in sales (real dollars, not units shipped)
  • 25% off = 245% increase in sales
  • 50% off = 320% increase in sales
  • 75% off = 1470% increase in sales

vote with your wallet and dont buy it on release. The reason the games are going $60 is because people are stupid enough to just pay it, so why not?bonafidetk
Guess I'm stupid then. $10 doesn't mean much to me.
