I just need a quick clarification on something.

If a motherboard supports the Intel Z77 socket, it will support the Ivy Bridge processors releaseing next week?

I'm mobo hunting right now for my PC. I have everything else already picked out, just need the right mobo.

Im slopping together a i7 Ivy Bridge with 2 GTX 570s next week.

I think I'm going for the Ivy Bridge next week too.

The ASUS P8Z77-V PRO has my attention right now. Not bad for the price.

I was going to pair it with a 3770K, but those things really seem to heat up when oc'd.

I'm getting the Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H. I love Gigabyte's build quality. I prefer that over Asus.

pretty sure asus is higher quality no? gigabyte is usually lower priced for budget consumers. Nothing against gigabyte since I also have a gigabyte z68 and it hasnt given me any problems.

Gigabyte treated me like crap on my last RMA. Wouldn't do it even though it was under warranty.

Wouldn't touch their stuff anymore.

I've been using Asus boards for decades, since the 486 days.

The Gigabyte G1.Sniper 3 is looking good. But I don't think ill ever do the quad sli ever. Is the other features worth it getting or is it better getting something else. http://ca.gigabyte.com/products/list.aspx?s=42&jid=2&p=2&v=24

I'm pretty sure new motherboards will come out to support Ivy.

I'm gonna hold off for a bit to see what's coming.

So would Gigabyte G1.Sniper 3 be best board for gigabyte? Or should I be looking at the other model. Kind of looks overkill. What is this duel broadband. The extra stuff there, is it stuff that usally gets dasabled? When adding sepret cards in

Techspot posted a review of 4 Z77 boards.

The ASRock Z77 Extreme 6 came out on top followed by the Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H-WB, then the Intel DZ77GA-70K, and the last one (ECS Z77H2-AX) they couldn't even recommend.

Top professional motherboards (overkill boards with quad sli and crossfire.) asrock Fatal1ty Z77 Professional ,Gigabyte G1.Sniper 3 looking good,ASUS Maximus IV Extreme. Top Regular motherboards asrock Z77 Extreme6, Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H, ASUS Sabertooth, Some others MSI Z77A-GD65 and for those who like biostar for some reason TZ77XE4 Ver. 5.x Are the features worth the extra cash for the professional one's or should we just get the regular end models. Trying to figer out what one I want is getting annoying. I see theres lots of budget topics already. I hope I didn't get any ones mentioned not a ivy bridge. gigabyte http://ca.gigabyte.com/products/list.aspx?s=42&jid=2&p=2&v=24 Asrock http://www.asrock.com/mb/index.asp?s=1155 MSI http://www.msi.com/product/mb/#/?sk=Socket%201155%20%28Intel%20i3/i5/i7%29 Biostar http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/index.php?S_ID=13 Asus site doesn't work for me

Any LGA1155 board will work. You won't have however get all the features Ivy Bridge will come with if you use a non-Z77 chipset.

I'm running the Asrock Extreme 4 Z77 mobo, so far I'm very happy with it. The build was a easy and overclocking my 2500k couldn't have been any more simple, I've only run it up to 4.4Ghz but I reckon I could get a lot more from it on this board. It's also fairly cheap.

Im going to clear things up Well from the gigabyte side it seems it really doesn't have anything to boost performance. It looks like it makes things easier for the user to use and OC. Intel® Rapid Start Technology (start windows faster), GIGABYTE 333 Onboard Acceleration witch boosts usb Asrock has 5X Faster for Photoshop Execution,5x times faster Lower Latency In Game, 5 times faster USB Performance Comparison, 1. HyperFormance :witch boosts framrates by 30% to 70%(wonder if it actually does that), Intel® Rapid Start Technology Well from asus and I really can't go on that site. But from the specs from the sabertooth it has, "Ultimate COOL!" Thermal Solution, the board is protected from dust ( Meh it's in the case anyways always blow it away nice to be in there.),usb boost, AI overcloacking. Meh asrock looks like a better boards but really doesn't have a good rep. There all the same basically just the exclusives that make them shine.

How is AsRock support these days? I remember buying an AsRock motherboard and it had DDR2/DDR3 dual compatibility. lol I took my e8500 to the distance in overclocking and it wasn't a familar nor popular brand back then... but dirt cheap for a solid motherboard. Now, I gotta read the review for the Asrock you have there.. might get it even though I favor Asus.

I really think im going to stick with the Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UDH5. It's right under $200 and it supports SLI and all of the stuff I care about. I'm not a crazy overclocker so my needs aren't as finely tuned.

Hi, I know it's been a while since you posted this, but can you please tell me this: Did your motherboard support your i5 ivy bridge right out of the box? Most motherboards require you to put in a Sandy Bridge and update the BIOS before you can use the motherboard with Ivy Bridge processors. I don't have a Sandy, and I've been looking for a motherboard that supported Ivy Bridge right out of the box. I'd really appreciate it if you replied. Thanks in advance.

Gigabyte's website has a chart, on every motherboard's page, for supported CPUs. You will see if it is supported or not. If you are still unsure, I would suggest emailing the company (gigabyte/ASUS/ASRock/etc) and ask them directly if it will work. If you know you'll have to flash and won't have the required CPU on hand, I suggest you buy your motherboard from a brick-and-mortar place and ask them to flash it for you before you leave.
