I've been having problems with installing Windows XP on a SATA drive.

Here's the situation: I have an ASUS P5KPL-CM Motherboard. I want to install Windows XP Home on a Serial ATA drive. I need to find, download, and copy drivers to a floppy disk. (Note: MakeDisk.exe is not on the MB's CD and I can't manually find the drivers.)

I've done this before, but I guess I'm just too tired to remember how. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

You don't need the drivers with a SATA HDD in IDE mode, you do need drivers for a SATA HDD in AHCI mode. You might be able to find the drivers on support.asus.com, or at least a floppy disk utility Ehggsz.

I was surprised to find that the appropriate drivers are not available on the ASUS download page for your motherboard.

Since you have a G31 chipset, it seems you need to go to the Intel site. I think this page may have what you are looking for.

Thanks, everyone. I went to the Intel site and downloaded the drivers from there. Worked great. Thanks, deadfirezero.
