You have to preorder/register preorder over steam.

Yea if you would of bought it through www.steampowered.com you could of been playing Teamfortress 2, Half Life 2, Half Life 2 Episode 1 right now. On the bright side you get a shiny box with manual and cd's and what not. You'll have to register through steam with the retail keys when you pick up your box october 10 =P.

Prepurchase the OrangeBox on STEAM and you get instant access to the TF2 BETA, which is great might i just add, so yeah you don't get to play it unless you prepurchase through STEAM.

Unlucky...

Actually, it was 5$ off and a free pre order, so I paid 44.99$. I would rather have the CD's in physical format than digital, plus I don't have a credit card :P.

GameStop should be asking you for an email address - they email you the beta key after a day or two to let you play. I actually wish I had held off on the Steam purchase so I could just have the DVDs in hand for all of the HL2 games to add to my collection. :)
