I just did something very naughty

I just completed playing HL2 for the first time on easy mode whilst using cheats to get me more healthkits and batteries. I get a nasty feeling that I missed out on some of the fun, but then again the Combine would have totally owned me had I done it any other way. How could GS have called the game easy?! Towards the end I was really struggling against the Striders. In certain areas I found it too easy to lose 90% of my health in a flash.

i'm trying to figure out of this is a joke of some kind

if it is, it's either too intelligent for me or too stupid for me

half life 2 is absurdly easy, even someone with very little skill can play it through on normal without much challenge, and certainly without using cheats

a few questions though:

do you use a keyboard and mouse?

if yes, do you use keys to turn or use mouselook?

do you use objects in the world for cover? - crouch and lean reduce your size,a smaller target is a harder to kill target

do you aim for the head?

when no cover is available, do you stand still like a giant target or do you make your enemies have to work to hit you?

i appreciate that different people have different skill levels, but i think - assuming you have two functioning hands and at least one functioning eye - that you must be doing something very, very wrong if you need to use cheats while playing half life 2 on easy

if you have to use cheats on easy, and STILL had diffuculty...i dont even know. im dumbfounded.

It's all very well thinking that I'm a retard :P, but there are some pretty difficult parts of the game. Sure, I could take down a corps of Combine Elite any day with my trusty shotgun and the grav gun as backup, but an army of Striders? No thanks.

EDIT: And by the way, I hardly struggled through the game on easy mode AND with the cheats. I could have completed the game on normal with no assistance any day. I'm just stating that I cut a few corners to speed up the game.

There is no lean option in HL2...

I agree easy is too easy....but Normal is kinda hard...I also had to lower the difficulty in certain parts...especially at the end.

Now if it had a lean function....different story..

I play other FPSs on hard...FEAR,STALKER etc....but those have a lean function.

But I don't understand the cheating part on easy...???!!!

no joke, I did beat hl2 on easy without cheating, but the last part was a bit challenging, I guess im not that good although I love FPS games. As for far cry, when I first got it a while back, I got half way through, now I can not even beat the first level. I think its cus I can't go through a game without killing all the bad guys (might be weird).

I dont really like cheating I think it removes all the fun from the game. I really like the single player game to be challenging its more fun that way.Fr0st3d

Cheats are good for one reson and i think its to get off any game that u love, ifi play a game 2 much and want to stop playing it i simply use cheats which instantly remove the good taste of teh game and make very stupid. want a good gamepaly and fun time? dont use cheats. thats wt i think at least.

cheats will remove the challenge from the game and this will make it useless

I ruined Morrowind by using a cheat code the first time I started playing the game. It killsany givengame to make yourself invincible. But, I completely understand the temptation, especially when you have limited time and just want to finish the bloody game.

What does everyone here think of using walkthroughs when you get stuck? Do you consider that cheating?

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE

I use to play games with cheats and after a while I started relying on them and my skills were nowhere to be found. I found any game utterly impossible without cheats and I had to rely on them to do everything. I finally broke that habit when you couldn't cheat while trying to get achievements for the 360 and it really helped my skills improve A LOT.

Now I can't stand using cheats in any game unless I'm doing a replay and I'm just trying to have some fun causing as much carnage as I can :)
