You may be able to run it on high, since that resolution is ~half the pixels of 1080p, and the recommended is a 5850 and the 4850 is only ~20-30% slower.

It's pretty vague on the processor, the recommended is a core2quad, not really anything super high, you may have to turn some processor related thing down like physics, I'm just assuming there are actual graphics settings here.. (unlike crysis2..)

Intel Core 2 Duo Processors have the dual core technology you are refering to which means your processors justs meets the requirements but I feel that the graphic card processes the graphical information and it will allow the game to run without lagging.

i know its a dual core but it uses the old netburst architecture, so its almost like 2 pentium 4's at 3.4ghz stuck together

The blunt truth is anything anybody tells you is a pure guess. None of us have played the game. For all we know it is a well optmized masterpiece or a unoptimized slow buggy mess.

Have you played any other game with the same minimum processor requirement? If that game worked fine then this would also work.

The game would work but no one can give you a clear picture before the game is released.

i think this post by pcgamer should help a bit

Runs great at 1920×1200 on my 2.8GHz quad-core Q9550, 4GB RAM, and Radeon 4800. We also tried it on our puniest machine, a dual-core E6750 with 2GB of RAM and an 8800GTS. I'd describe it as functional but not pleasant – averaging around 20fps. That rig can't run Crysis 2 at more than a slideshow even on its lowest settings, but does run Portal 2 perfectly.

whast funny is that my processor is worse than that core2duo yet i get 35-40fps on very high at crysis 2. So am i in the clear?

What GPU do you have ? Your GPU will make a much bigger impact then your CPU will on your framerate in shooters.
